Word of wisdom from the bible for managing business ahead of Volatility ahead.
* Be sure you know the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds;
*for riches do not endure forever, and a crown is not secure for all genarations.
* When the hay is removed and new growth appears and the grass from the hills is gathered in, the lambs will provide you with clothing, and the goats with the price of a field.
* You will have plenty of goats' milk to feed you and your family and to nourish your servants. (Prov 27:23-27)

Profit is not the ultimate objective but creating wealth.
A Short term horizon can fulfill objective of earning profit but may not help in creating wealth. It is because wealth creation needs a longer term horizon. Wealth maximization is through financial management whilst profit maximization can be achieved through cost management.
