Tax return season is slowly approaching with SARS having issued notices in this regard (see below links).
Concerns have however been raised with regard to the shorter filing period for individuals and certain trusts. With respect to trusts, their previous July commencement date has now been moved to September (with their filing season running from 16 September 2024 to 20 January 2025).
While the filing period for trusts who are not provisional taxpayers has been extended, this is not the case for trusts that are provisional taxpayers. SARS has been engaged in this regard and we currently await feedback.
