As always it was a great privilege to attend the Leadership Conference Awards evening 2026 at The Capital Zimbali, hosted by Liberty / Standard Bank .

The theme of the conference, Celebrating Our Extraordinary Humans, was both inspiring and fitting.

The major highlights was the Gala Awards Evening, where as follows:

Our Corporate Division was recognised as the Top Distribution for 2026. Lead by Shan Nissiotis.

Hereford Group was also honored with the prestigious Top NDP Distribution 2026 award. Lead by Michael Dundulakis This is a true reflection of the strength of our leadership, our advisors, and our national reach.

The Hereford leadership team once again achieved the #1 NDP ranking, and this would not have been possible without the continued support of our valued partners, Liberty and Standard Bank.

A sincere thank you to the Liberty team, especially Suhail Gani , and the events team for hosting a truly world-class event .

As the Hereford Exco team always reminds us that these are never individual awards but always a reflection of the incredible teamwork from everyone associated with the group ,Be it our advisers, administrators, receptionists & personal assistants national wide. Who without there contentious hard work & support none of these accolades would be possible A massive thank you once again.

I must also say a quick thank you to Tom Bloy CFP® from our KZN leadership team who without, I may still be getting ready for the awards evening , as he stepped in to help me with my bow tie 🤵 🙏🏻

A dread disease that can change your life

Many people, not familiar with Multiple Sclerosis (or MS) because it is not as widely publicised as cancers and heart disease, don’t realise that this is a dread disease. To try to raise that awareness, Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month was created by the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation (MSF).

According to a representative, ‘’Multiple Sclerosis is a progressive, degenerative disorder of the central nervous system, including the brain, optic nerve and spinal cord. MS symptoms occur when the connections between the brain and the body’s nerves are damaged.’’

Because Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is considered a dread disease (or critical illness) by most insurance providers, it is commonly listed in ‘Dread disease’ policy documents alongside conditions like cancer, stroke, and Parkinson’s, as it is a chronic, often debilitating and costly illness.

A ‘Dread disease’ policy will pay a handsome lump sum if you are derailed by one of these illnesses, and adding ‘Income Protection’ will cover you if your illness is protracted and you are unable to work for some time.

We recently attended the Liberty Leadership Conference 2026 at The always spacial Zimbali Resort. Not only do we get to reconnect with our partners & colleagues from within the Hereford family from around the country but also friends from the greater Liberty Group South Africa / Standard Bank South Africa.

The line up of guest speakers was an incredibly inspiring experience. Each session left a lasting impression.

Hearing Hein Wagner speak stole the show. As someone who refuses to let blindness define his limits, he truly represents perseverance and determination. Holding the land speed record as the fastest blind man, amongst many of his other accomplishments,his story is a reminder that our circumstances do not have to dictate our potential.

A a proud member of the Jeppe old boys association . It is always a privilege to hear from Jake White one of our most famous old boys, teachers & legendary springbok World Cup winning coaches. John Smit our captain of that legendary Bok team both who shared valuable insights on leadership, & reminding us that winning is what South Africans do 🇿🇦.

Dave Duarte CEO of Shaketree introduced the concept of AI agents , challenging us to embrace these tools to get back our most important asset of all our time.

Finally, as always a massive thank you to Suhail Gani ,Phatudi Mogashwa other members of the LAP leadership & Liberty event team .You always make us feel welcome & appreciated.

As I reflected on the achievements of 2025 there was a renewed sense that last year fantastic performance was only the foundation of what will be achieved in 2026.🏆
