Sometimes, life changes in a single day.
This is my dad ♥️
One day, everything was normal. And then, almost overnight, everything changed. He became seriously ill, and since then, we have watched him become weaker by the day.
Sitting beside him in hospital has made me look at my profession as a Financial Advisor from a completely different perspective.
We spend so much of our lives planning for the future. We plan holidays, careers, homes, retirement and our children’s futures.
But we don’t plan for the unexpected.
Because how do you plan for something you never thought would happen?
The reality is that illness, hospitalisation, disability, or an unexpected medical event can happen in a day, an hour, or even a second.
And when it does, the last thing you want your family worrying about is:
“How are we going to afford this?”
There can be medical expenses, loss of income, additional care, travel, medication, rehabilitation and so many other costs that you simply don’t anticipate until you’re suddenly faced with them.
This experience has reminded me why I do what I do.
Financial planning isn’t about expecting something bad to happen. It’s about making sure that, if something does happen, you and the people you love aren’t left financially vulnerable.
You can’t predict tomorrow.
You can’t prevent every unexpected event.
But you can prepare for the financial impact.
Take a moment to ask yourself:
• Is my family financially protected if something happens to me?
• Do I have the right medical and risk benefits in place?
• What happens to my income if I can’t work?
• Would my family be financially okay if I became seriously ill?
• When was the last time I reviewed my cover?
Don’t wait for life to give you a reason to review your financial plan.
Because sometimes, the “what if” becomes the “what now?” much sooner than we ever expected.
If you haven’t reviewed your financial protection recently, please don’t put it off.
Let’s make sure that the people and things that matter most to you are protected. 🤍
This post comes from a very personal place. I’m sharing it not to create fear, but awareness. Sometimes, life gives us reminders of why preparation matters.
