The speaker makes a point with which I align with – we tend to think that if we work hard we shall achieve success, instead we need to take time to reflect and our work( performance zone) and find areas of improvement (learning zone).Too often we view mistakes as things to beat ourselves up with instead of recognizing them as opportunities to improve

Brian

Business and rugby
Yesterday the Boks played England and lost. It is important to learn from defeat and setbacks, lessons which can be used in all aspects of life.
My lessons from the match are as follows
Multiple Lineout overthrows in an attacking position
Lesson:
If your plan doesn’t work, change it, adapt to the situation
Lesson:
Poor communication leads to confusion, be clear in communicating your objectives to your teammates, they are not mind readers.
England 14 men, Boks 5 metres from the line.
Lesson:
When your opponent is at a disadvantage take your opportunity to exploit it, by playing to your strengths.
Handling Errors
Lesson:
Patience as they say is a virtue, over eagerness create mistakes, be patient and wait for the opening, don’t try to force the issue.
When decisions go against you.
Lesson:
Everything won’t go your way. Learn to accept the situation and move on.
Overall
Focus on what you can control, namely yourself and your reactions.
Strive to do your best, you can do no more than that.
The team that makes the least mistakes wins.
With our expertise and support we help our clients improve business performance.
