SARS has extended the deadline for certain provisional taxpayers who received an auto-assessment to request a reduced or additional assessment.

📅 New deadline: 22 January 2027

But remember: an auto-assessment is based on information SARS has received. It doesn't necessarily mean SARS has every deduction, expense or piece of income relevant to you.

Check it. Understand it. And if something is wrong, correct it.

If you have a home loan, vehicle finance, personal loan or other debt linked to prime, your interest rate may increase.

That means:
Your monthly repayments could increase.
You could pay more interest over the remaining term of your loan.
New borrowing becomes more expensive.
Your monthly budget may come under additional pressure.

For salary earners 💰
If you're already carrying debt, the higher repayments can mean less disposable income each month.

It may be a good time to review your budget, debt repayments and emergency savings.

For pensioners & policyholders 👵🏽💼
There can also be a positive side to higher interest rates.

Pension funds, retirement annuities and certain investment policies may invest part of their money in interest-bearing assets. When interest rates rise, those investments can potentially generate more income, which means more money can flow into the investment pool and, depending on the product, may ultimately benefit the policyholder or pensioner.
