Caroline Piehl, CFP®, EA, Managing Partner and Financial Advisor at TimeWise Financial, joins Laurie Stack, Host of Talent Stack, for a Wealth Solutions Report podcast on leading a family practice through succession and serving younger clients.

How can successors update an established practice while retaining client trust and meeting younger clients’ expectations?

Caroline describes the importance of gradually utilizing ever-changing technology and investment strategies while preserving the firm’s integrated tax and wealth-planning model. With younger clients using AI to analyze portfolios, she emphasizes planning for decisions such as buying a business or managing an inheritance.

She also outlines how firms can help more women become advisors by mentoring employees, supporting licensing, and providing client experience. Expanding access, she argues, requires deliberate action from leaders across the profession.

Whether Social Security will last is a hot-button issue, especially when you're looking at retirement. Social Security's trust fund is due to run out in 2034, and because of this, people ask us to run the numbers on whether they can retire without Social Security all the time.

Remedies have been discussed, including raising the tax or the cap on how much income is taxed, but uncertainty never feels great. If you want us to run your retirement numbers with or without Social Security, let us know! Preparation is key to living peacefully. 💆🙌

You can still benefit from the estate and gift law changes in the Big Beautiful Bill; here's how! 👇

In 2026, the annual exclusion lets you gift up to $19,000 to a child, grandchild, or friend with no tax paperwork. If you are married, you can combine forces and gift $38,000 per person, completely tax-free.

In this video, Tax Strategist and Financial Advisor Sarah Rentschler, CFP®, EA, discusses gifting strategies that include:

· Superfunding a 529 college savings plan by bundling five years of gifts into a single year.

· The Direct-Pay Rule allows you to pay a college tuition bill or medical bill 100% gift tax-free.

· The Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) allows those age 70 1/2 or older to transfer up to $111k per year from your Traditional IRA to a qualified charitable organization.

· The New Cash Contribution Deduction allows those who take the standard deduction to deduct up to $1k (single) or $2k (married) in cash donations.

Gifting is all about legacy and love, but the details matter. If you want to learn more or know anyone who could benefit from our services, please share this video!

Just Confirmed! 📢 Yesterday, the Federal Reserve announced a 0.25% interest rate hike, bringing the benchmark rate to 3.75%–4.00%. This is the Fed's first rate hike since 2023, largely driven by rising inflation and higher energy costs.

The Fed uses interest rates to try to contain inflation. With the costs of everything still rising, this move was necessary.

Here is what this news means for your money and personal financial strategy:
💰 The Good News for Savers:
- Better Returns on Cash: High-yield savings accounts, CDs, and money market funds should start offering better returns on your "safe" emergency cash.
- Higher Bond Yields: New bonds issued now will pay better coupon rates, making fixed-income options more attractive for long-term income.

⚠️ What to Watch Out For:
- Higher Borrowing Costs: Expect interest rates on mortgages, auto loans, HELOCs, and credit cards to creep higher.
- Market Volatility: Higher rates can put temporary pressure on stock market valuations (especially tech and real estate) as borrowing costs rise for businesses.

💡 3 Next Steps to Consider:
- Review Your Cash: Make sure your liquid savings are sitting in accounts that pass along higher yields.
- Check Your Debt: Look for ways to pay down variable-rate debt before interest charges go up.
- Rebalance Your Investments: Ensure your mix of stocks, bonds, and cash matches your long-term goals under this new rate landscape.

In June & July, the World Cup filled North America with the kind of excitement that hasn't been felt since the 1996 Olympics, and a newfound appreciation for soccer (or football). Atlanta benefited greatly from hosting matches, with a boost in public transportation trips and nearly half a million people booking hotels and eating out at local restaurants!

The city was cleaner, and the crowd vibes were immaculate. Thank you, and Mayor , for a great time! We're already looking forward to more amazing sporting events and the Super Bowl in 2028. 🏅

Last month, Congress passed the 21st Century Road to Housing Act to try to help you buy a home. Building more and restricting investors may not solve big problems like rising sale prices and interest rates.

While we appreciate the administration's consideration, here's our take on why we think this bill won't do much to change the current market. 🤷‍♂️
