We are pleased to announce that the 19th annual Dalton L. McMichael Scholarship for Excellence, presented by Butler + Burke, has been awarded to Lily Whitten of Mayodan. The $1000 scholarship is available to high school seniors at Dalton L. McMichael High School in Mayodan.

During her time at McMichael High School, Lily was a member of and held leadership positions in Student Government (including serving as 2022-2023 Student Body President), the Interact Club, the Juniorettes Service Club, National Beta Club, and JROTC. She was a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, StellarXplorers, Battle of the Books, Orienteering Club, National Honors Society, and the Academic Bowl Team.

Athletically, Lily was a part of the swim, golf, and volleyball teams. Ranked number six in the Senior class, she has also received of a number of academic achievement awards. This fall, Lily will begin college at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Reynolds High School is 100. A new mural by Nick Bragg celebrates the school's history Addison Truzy surveyed the new mural hanging in a second floor hallway at Reynolds High School and spotted a pair of boots among a myriad of images.

We are pleased to announce that the recipient of the 2022 Dalton L. McMichael Scholarship for Excellence, given annually by Butler + Burke, is Taylor Carpenter of Stoneville. The $1000 scholarship is available to high school seniors at Dalton L. McMichael High School in Mayodan.

During her time at McMichael High School, Taylor was a member of the National Honor Society, National Beta Club, Science National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. Additionally, she was on the Science Academic Team, competing at the state level. She has also tutored, volunteered and been involved in her church. This fall, Taylor will begin college at North Carolina State University, where she plans to pursue a horticulture course of study.

This was the 18th year of the Butler + Burke McMichael Scholarship, which was established as a way to assist deserving teens in reaching their educational goals.

We wanted to make sure that you're able to put faces with names during this busy tax season, and we are thrilled to have Nick Jones and Meredith Sims with us this year to help us get through it all!

Nick is a native of the area, growing up in Clemmons and attending West Forsyth High School. He went on to graduate from Appalachian State University in 2016. He's helping us with individual returns this year and when not working on your taxes, he enjoys travel, Carolina Panthers games, movies, his dog, and his friends.

Meredith hails from Farmington Hills, Michigan and received her undergraduate degree from Michigan State University in 2021. She then decided to fly south and begin pursuing a Master's degree from Wake Forest University. Meredith will be working on business returns, and when not working or studying, she enjoys yoga, reading, hiking, and spending time with her family.
