As we move toward the second half of the year, it’s a great time to revisit tax planning opportunities that often get overlooked — especially when it comes to your business entity structure.

As your business grows, the setup you started with may no longer be the most tax‑efficient. Different structures like sole proprietorships, partnerships, LLCs, and S corporations can create very different outcomes when it comes to profitability, payroll, and how you pay yourself. Those differences can impact self‑employment taxes, how your income is reported, and your overall flexibility with tax planning.

Our team at Thomas Tax Solutions LLC can walk you through the numbers and help you understand whether your current structure is still serving you well. If you’re curious about what might work better for your business, we’d be glad to take a look.

Big news out of the IRS this week: there's officially an app for that. 📱

The IRS just launched a new "IRS app," replacing the old IRS2Go. From your phone, you can now check your refund and amended-return status, view your account balance, make and track payments, pull old tax records and transcripts, and even grab your Identity Protection PIN — all without sitting through the IRS hold music (we still love you, IRS, but that hold music is not a genre we'd recommend).

It's free on the App Store and Google Play, and if you already had IRS2Go with auto-updates on, it'll switch over on its own.

Handy tool for routine stuff. But if what shows up on that app — or in your mailbox — is an actual IRS notice that makes your stomach drop, an app isn't going to tell you what it means or how to respond. That part's our job. Give us a call at 910-523-5589 and we'll help you make sense of it.

IR-2026-114, Sept. 25, 2026 — The IRS today announced the launch of the new IRS mobile app, replacing IRS2Go and expanding the agency’s digital services to give taxpayers more ways to securely access IRS tools and account services from their mobile devices.

Yes, the IRS has an app now. 📱💸

The new “IRS app” just replaced IRS2Go — check your refund status, make and track payments, pull old transcripts, and even grab your Identity Protection PIN, all without touching a phone tree.

Cool little upgrade. But if what pops up (on the app or in your actual mailbox) is a real IRS notice, don’t just stare at it and hope it goes away — that’s literally our whole job.

Drop us a message or give us a call at (910) 523-5589 if you need a translator for “IRS-ese.” 👇
