It's open enrollment season β€” and the choices you make now can trim your tax bill. 🩺

Two of the most overlooked: an FSA or HSA lets you set aside pre-tax dollars for medical costs, lowering your taxable income. An HSA is especially powerful β€” it can even grow and roll over year to year.

The window to lower your 2026 tax bill is still open β€” but it won't be for long. πŸ‚

Before December 31, a few moves can make a real difference: max out retirement
contributions, time your charitable giving, and (if you're self-employed) plan your income and expenses strategically. After the new year, most of these are off the table.

"Should I itemize or take the standard deduction?" One of the most common questions we get β€” and the answer can be worth real money. πŸ’°

The standard deduction is simpler, but if your mortgage interest, state and local taxes, medical costs, and charitable gifts add up to more, itemizing wins. The only way to know for sure is to run it both ways.

That's exactly what we do for every client β€” no guessing. Curious which is better for you? Let's talk. - Tim

Own a rental property around WNY? You might be handing the IRS more than you owe. 🏘

Landlords can deduct a lot: repairs, mortgage interest, property taxes, insurance,
management fees, mileage to check on the place, and depreciation on the building itself. Miss these and you overpay β€” every single year.

If you rent out a property, let's make sure your return is working as hard as you do. Grab our rental worksheet in the comments. πŸ‘‡ - Tim

Feeling generous this fall? Your good deed might also be a tax break. 🎁

Donations to qualified charities β€” cash, clothing, household goods, even mileage you
drive for volunteer work β€” can lower your taxable income if you itemize. The key is
documentation: keep receipts, acknowledgment letters, and a list of what you gave.

Planning a bigger year-end gift? There are smart ways to time it. Let's make sure it counts.

Did your life look different this year? Your taxes probably do too. πŸ’πŸ‘πŸ‘Ά
Getting married, buying or selling a home, having a baby, moving states, starting a business β€”
any one of these can swing your refund (or your bill) in a big way. The mistake people make is
waiting until April to find out.
A quick check now means no surprises β€” and often a bigger refund. If this year brought a big
change, let's talk it through. Message me or call (716) 631-0700. β€” Tim
