Retirement can change the way you think about travel. Instead of squeezing a trip between work commitments, you may have the flexibility to stay longer, travel more often or make memories with the people who matter most.

As your priorities evolve, consider whether your financial strategy still reflects the retirement lifestyle you envision. A conversation with your financial professional can help you explore how travel fits into the bigger picture.

August has a history of keeping investors on their toes. Over the past 35 years, seven “black swan” events have occurred during the month, an important reminder that markets don’t always follow the calendar.

As summer winds down and market uncertainty picks up, having a financial strategy built around your goals, time horizon and risk tolerance can help keep short-term headlines in perspective.

For years, grandparents were often told to think twice before using a 529 plan to help pay for their grandchildren’s education.

Why? Distributions from grandparent-owned 529 plans could previously impact a student’s FAFSA and financial aid eligibility.
That has changed.

Under the FAFSA Simplification Act, distributions from grandparent-owned 529 plans are no longer reported as student income on the FAFSA.

What does this mean? Grandparents can continue building a legacy of support by helping fund education while maintaining control of the account and avoiding the previous financial aid concerns.

If you’ve been setting aside money for a grandchild’s education, now may be a good time to revisit your college savings strategy.

A will is more than a legal document—it’s a way to make sure your wishes are known and your loved ones are protected.

If creating or updating your will is on your to-do list, consider these three important benefits:
- Direct your property: A will allows you to outline how you want your assets distributed rather than leaving those decisions to state laws.
- Guide the probate process: Clear instructions can help provide direction during the probate process and make estate administration smoother.
- Name guardians for minor children: A will allows you to choose who you trust to care for your children if you’re unable to do so.

Contribution limit changes may happen every year—but the way you respond can make a lasting impact.

For plan sponsors, 2026 is a chance to step back and ask:
- Are employees taking full advantage of available savings opportunities?
- Does our plan design support our workforce goals?
- Are our processes ready for the year ahead?

Strong retirement plans don’t happen by accident. They require thoughtful strategy, communication and ongoing review.
