Our mission is to relieve tax stress, provide superior service, and help you save money.

It's a short mission statement, but we mean every word of it literally, not as a slogan sitting on a wall somewhere.

Every case that comes through this office gets measured against those same three things: did the stress actually get lighter, was the service genuinely good, and did the outcome make financial sense for that specific person.

A corporate structure genuinely protects against plenty of things, but the IRS treats ๐’–๐’๐’‘๐’‚๐’Š๐’…

There's a specific mechanism behind this, called the Trust Fund Recovery Penalty, which can make a responsible individual, often an owner or officer, personally liable for the payroll tax portion of what the business owes.

That means personal assets and personal accounts can end up in scope, regardless of how the business itself is structured.

This is one of the reasons payroll tax debt in particular tends to be worth addressing sooner rather than later. It isn't automatically contained to the business the way other obligations might be.

A lot of hesitation about calling a tax relief firm comes from not knowing what that conversation is actually going to involve. So here's exactly what happens, no surprises, no script designed to pressure you into anything before you're ready.

We ask what you owe and to which agency, whether that's the IRS or a state department of revenue. We ask what notices you've already received, since that tells us where things currently stand. From there, we take the time to review all your information and determine whether you're likely to qualify for a payment plan, a reduced settlement, or something else entirely. We then schedule a second call and explain all of it back to you in plain language.

There's no pressure to make a decision on that call. You walk away knowing exactly what your situation looks like and what the realistic next step would be.

Ask most clients what actually changed once their tax resolution case started moving, and the dollar figure usually isn't the first thing they mention.

It's the sleep. ๐Ÿ˜ด

No more staying up until 3am running math that never quite works out, no more of that specific kind of dread that shows up every time the mail arrives.

What replaces it is something a lot quieter:

That's really the goal here, not just a resolved balance on paper, but a life where this particular thing isn't the reason you can't sleep anymore.

That's what a ๐Ÿ…–๐Ÿ…ก๐Ÿ…”๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ…ฃ ๐Ÿ…“๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ…จ, in the way we mean it, actually looks like. โ˜€๏ธ

A tax bill rarely stays the same size for long if it goes unpaid, and it's usually not just interest doing the growing. The IRS has a specific set of penalties it applies, and knowing which ones exist, and why, makes the number on a notice a lot less mysterious.

The two most common are a failure-to-file penalty, which can run 5 percent of the unpaid tax for each month a return is late, up to 25 percent, and a failure-to-pay penalty, a smaller 0.5 percent per month, also capped at 25 percent. There's also an accuracy-related penalty, generally 20 percent, for underreported income or improperly claimed deductions.

On top of all of that, interest accrues separately, currently 7 percent annually for individuals, compounded daily. None of these are designed to be impossible to deal with, they're just worth actually understanding instead of guessing at.

The IRS's own Taxpayer Advocate report has a number worth knowing if you've ever called about a balance you owed: an average 45 minute wait on the line specifically for payment plans and balances due, and only 31 percent of those calls even got answered.

That's worse than the overall average across every IRS phone line, which came in at 21 percent answered and a 14 minute wait. But the balance-due line, the one most relevant to anyone dealing with back taxes, ran significantly longer than that.

None of this reflects poorly on the people answering phones, it reflects a staffing reality that's made the phone one of the hardest ways to reach the IRS this year.

While we are able to make call on another line with the IRS, that doesn't mean we skip the hold music ourselves, some days it takes us well over an hour to get a live person on the other end too. What changes isn't the wait time, it's who's sitting through it.

That's still worth something, even on the days it tests our patience as much as anyone else's.

Most people don't realize that dealing with the IRS comes with a specific, legally protected right: ๐’•๐’‰๐’† ๐’“๐’Š๐’ˆ๐’‰๐’• ๐’•๐’ ๐’“๐’†๐’•๐’‚๐’Š๐’ ...

It's one of the ten rights laid out in the Taxpayer Bill of Rights, and it exists whether or not you ever end up using it.

That representative can be an attorney, a certified public accountant, an enrolled agent, or another person authorized to practice before the IRS. Once representation is properly in place, the IRS generally has to work through your representative, and in most situations, it has to pause an interview if you ask to consult with one first.

For anyone who wants that representative to be us, this is where that conversation starts.

There's a specific moment on a lot of our calls where you can actually hear it happen.

Someone's been bracing for bad news through the entire conversation, expecting more complications, more bad options, and then it lands that their situation is more straightforward than they assumed.

There's this pause, almost always followed by some version of "wait, that's it? That's all we have to do?" Yes, more often than people expect.

The fear tends to build a situation up into something bigger and more tangled than it actually turns out to be once someone experienced actually looks at it. That pause, right before the relief sets in, might be the best part of doing this work.

A good accountant can do a lot of things well: prepare your return, keep your books straight, help you plan ahead for next year's taxes.

Negotiating directly with the IRS on a resolution case usually isn't one of the things they do every day, though, and that gap tends to show up right when it matters most.

A Certified Tax Resolution Specialist is a separate credential entirely, with its own coursework and its own body of ongoing casework built specifically around negotiating settlements, payment plans, and disputes with the IRS. It's not a side skill added on top of general accounting, it's the entire focus.

That doesn't make a great CPA or bookkeeper bad at their job, it just means resolution work is genuinely its own specialty, the same way a general doctor refers a specific case out to someone who handles that exact thing constantly.

Every case that comes through our office gets that kind of focused attention, not something squeezed between a dozen other services.

A lot of businesses are built around getting you to come back every month, and there's nothing wrong with that model if that's the service. It's just not ours. Our goal with every case is close to the opposite: get in, understand the situation, negotiate a plan with the IRS, and get to a point where you're not thinking about us anymore.

That usually looks like fewer notices landing in the mailbox, fewer unanswered letters piling up, and eventually, the IRS communicating with our office instead of reaching out to you directly at all. When a case wraps up the way it's supposed to, the relationship with us naturally winds down too, and that's exactly the outcome we're aiming for.

We'd rather do the work once, thoroughly, than have you need us again down the line.
