Possibly the most overlooked part of open enrollment?

Many people spend time choosing a health plan but overlook the rest of their benefits package. Open enrollment can be an opportunity to ask:

- Am I saving enough toward retirement?

- Have my insurance needs changed?

- Are my beneficiaries up to date?

- Am I taking full advantage of benefits available to me?

A few thoughtful decisions today can help create more confidence throughout the year ahead.

If you would like some guidance walking through your benefits options, I'm running free consultations with my team.

Don't leave benefits on the table.

(No, seriously. The ghosts of missed HSA's past still haunt me. Sigh.)

Your workplace benefits package may offer more than just health insurance.

Open enrollment can be a good time to review:

✅ 401(k) contributions

✅ HSA or FSA elections

✅ Disability coverage

✅ Life insurance benefits

✅ Beneficiary designations (big one!)

These elections may play an important role in both your current financial wellness and your long-term planning strategy.

Before clicking "submit," it may be worth giving everything one more look.

Open enrollment season is here, and for many people it's one of the few times each year to review workplace benefits.

It's tempting to simply select the same options as last year. I know it. I've been there.

However, life may have changed. Ask yourself these questions:

1. Did your income increase?
2. Did any family circumstances change?
3. Have any healthcare needs evolved?
4. Have your retirement goals shifted?

Taking a few minutes to review your benefits elections can help you make sure your benefits still a c t u a l l y make sense for you. Those few minutes can help you avoid locking in a year of misaligned things you're on the hook to pay for, or that you might be missing out on.

The best choice isn't always the same one you made last year (even if it f e e l s like it). Let's make sure the math is mathing.

Here's a question I ask p a r e n t s that gets them thinking, & sometimes they end up working with me & my team:

→ What money questions do you hope your children will learn or know to ask?

Worth a conversation (with your kids, & us!).

It's Q4. Eeeeeeeeeeek.

😵‍💫

*deep breath*

Okay. I'm back.

Quick reality check, that's:

- 13 weeks left in the year
- 66 business days left

Thaaaaat's it.

What financial task is still sitting on your to-do list?

- Increase retirement savings?
- Start retirement savings?
- Review your 401(k)?
- Actually have the protection convos?
- Make a tax planning move?
- Pay down debt?
- Finally build a financial plan?

Here's mine:

- Keep laser-focused on my current saving goal (buying a car), including analyzing & understanding how that fits with my financial plan today.

Send me a DM if you want to chat about anything. I'm here to help you.

Let's make the last 66 workdays count. 💪

Here's a question for ya, whether you're pre-retirement or coming right up on it:

→ Do you know how much you're slated to pay the government in taxes over the next 25 years?

Worth a conversation.

Today's the last day of Life Insurance Awareness Month.

I've brought up how coverage matters more than policy type, how work coverage doesn't follow you (usually), & about insuring your kids before life gives you a reason to wish you had.

Here's the one thing I want you to walk away with, if nothing else:

None of this is really about insurance.

It's about the people who'd have to figure out how to keep going without you.

The mortgage that doesn't pause.

The kids who still need things.

The business that doesn't run itself.

The people who love you, left to handle it all while they're also grieving you.

That's what coverage actually protects. Not you. Them.
& if you don't care about any of that... maybe you care about living benefits for yourself.

But if you don't care about t h a t either, then okay. Our convo ends here.

For the ones still reading: Awareness Month ends today. Your chance to start doesn't.

If you've been meaning to do this --- get coverage, review coverage, ask a question you've been sitting on --- don't let today be the day you decided to keep waiting instead.

Send me a message, or grab time on my calendar.
Let's make sure the people you love are t a k e n c a r e o f.

I'd rather someone be annoyed that I brought up life insurance than find themselves wishing someone had asked the conversation-starting questions sooner.

My team & I do much more than help people evaluate life insurance. But when it's appropriate, we view it as one of the foundational tools that can help protect a family, a business, or a financial plan.

Since Life Insurance Awareness Month is wrapping up, I'm going to keep shining a light on a topic that too often gets ignored.

Here are a few questions worth asking yourself:

• Has anyone reviewed your life insurance coverage with you recently?

• When was the last time you checked whether your coverage still reflects your current situation?

• Is your coverage sufficient for the people depending on you?

• Are you paying for coverage you no longer need?

• What's the purpose of your policy, & does it still align with your goals?

• Have you ever had a strategic conversation about your coverage, or was it simply applied for, approved, & then forgotten?

• If you've had your policy for several years, what has changed since then? Marriage? Children? A new home? Increased income? A business?

• If you weren't here tomorrow, how long would it take your family to replace your income, your future earning potential, & the financial security you provide today?

Life insurance isn't the answer to every financial planning question. But for many families, it's a conversation worth having before it's needed.
