A significant new development for 2027
As of October 20, 2026, Elon Musk has announced plans to give one SpaceX share to every child in America next year, through Trump Accounts. However, the details, eligibility rules, and distribution process have not yet been fully established.

Establish a Trump account for your child even if they were born before 2025 and don't qualify for the $1000 initial deposit for children born between 2025-2028. Other donors and possibilities could be coming.

GREAT NEWS!!! IF YOU HAVEN'T FILED YOUR 2025 INCOME TAXES YET YOU HAVE AN EXTENTED PERIOD TO FILE AND PAY!

If your 2025 federal return was properly extended you now have an extended due date of November 2, 2026 to get them filed and paid.

The IRS specifically says the November 2, 2026 deadline applies to affected taxpayers who:
o ordinarily had to file their 2025 individual federal income-tax return by April 15, 2026, and
o taxpayers who already had a valid extension for their 2025 return.
Waukesha and Milwaukee County (other counties too) are included in the designated Wisconsin disaster area.

And this applies to Wisconsin state income tax too
This is the particularly useful part.
Wisconsin DOR says that any federal extension of time granted because of a federally declared disaster automatically extends the corresponding Wisconsin income/franchise tax return.

The IRS's official announcement says November 2, 2026, and Wisconsin DOR says the federal disaster extension automatically carries over to the corresponding

One other important point: taxes owed
The relief isn't merely permission to file late. The IRS says affected taxpayers have until November 2 to file returns and pay taxes that were originally due during the covered period.

Reporting Relief for companies who use sub-contractors or non-employees.

For payments made in 2026, the federal Form 1099-NEC reporting threshold increased from $600 to $2,000. This change was enacted in the One, Big, Beautiful Bill Act and applies to payments made after December 31, 2025. Beginning after 2026, the threshold will be adjusted for inflation.

So, for the 2026 tax year:

2025 and earlier payments: Report if you paid $600 or more.
2026 payments: Report if you paid $2,000 or more to a nonemployee for services (unless another reporting rule applies, such as backup withholding).

One important point: The reporting threshold is not the taxability threshold. If a contractor earns $1,500 in 2026, that income is still generally taxable to them even though you may not be required to issue a Form 1099-NEC.

I wanted to make sure you had the latest information and resources handy as the Trump Accounts app officially launched on all major platforms. Nearly 6 million children already have Trump Accounts established, helping families invest in the next generation and build long-term financial opportunity for America’s future.

What is a Trump Account?

Families get $1,000 for every American child born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028.

The account is fully in the child’s name, and parents are the sole custodian until they turn 18.

No contributions are necessary, but families can deposit up to $5,000 per year to maximize growth.

Your child's funds will automatically be invested in American companies. The app lets you see exactly what stocks they own and how they're performing.

As they get older, they'll learn about investing and watch their money compound in real time. They'll gain more than just money. They'll gain financial literacy.
Trump Accounts are about investing in America’s next generation from day one. Every child deserves the opportunity to build a stronger financial future, and Republicans are focused on providing young families the tools to do exactly that. We should be making it easier for families to build wealth, not harder.

Here's a look at the numbers:

With this single $1,000 contribution, a child will have $6,000 by the time they turn 18.

Keep it in the account, and they’ll have $15,000 by age 27.

Leave it to grow until age 55, and they’ll have $243,000.

All this growth comes from a $1,000 investment.
