AF&PA filed to join the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors lawsuit against Oregon’s EPR law, the Plastic Pollution and Recycling Modernization Act. We filed a request asking the court to grant the same pause, which would temporarily stop the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) from enforcing the EPR law against our members.

Our industry continuously invests to improve paper recycling. Rather than penalizing materials like paper and paper packaging that are already widely recycled, policymakers should prioritize approaches that build on existing success and deliver measurable improvements. https://bit.ly/4saGSA9

The paper you recycle is turned into new products at paper mills across America every day. Around 80% of U.S. paper mills use some recycled paper to make new products. After collection, recycled paper is sorted, bailed, churned, broken down and turned into items, like shipping boxes, that Americans rely on.
