📣 IMPORTANT TAX REMINDER 📣

To help us maximize your tax benefits, please remember the following when gathering documents for your tax return:

- If you worked overtime, bring your last paystub of the 2025 year, so we can verify and apply any eligible deductions.
- If you purchased a brand-new vehicle in 2025 please bring the VIN number. This is required to determine if you qualify for a possible interest deduction.

Having these newly required documents ready helps us serve you faster, and ensures you receive every credit you qualify for.

If you have any questions in regards to what documents you may need to bring, give us a call at (630) 359-3469.

Thank you for choosing us for your tax needs!

We have all heard about "No Tax on Overtime". We now know what that means for your 2025 tax return!

OBBBA Overtime Tax Deduction: What You Need to Know

1. What’s Deductible?
The Act (signed into law on July 4, 2025) grants an above-the-line federal tax deduction for qualified overtime compensation, but only for the “premium” portion—that is, half of the overtime pay (the extra half-time) when an employee works more than 40 hours per week under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)

2. Deduction Limits & Phase-Out
Individuals can deduct up to $12,500 per year.

Married joint filers can deduct up to $25,000 per year.

These deductions phase out once Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI) exceeds $150,000 (or $300,000 for joint filers)

3. Duration
The deduction applies for the 2025 through 2028 tax years only—it is a temporary relief measure

4. Reporting Requirements
Employers must separately report the qualified overtime portion on each employee’s Form W-2.

5. Tax Treatment Still Applies
While the deduction applies to federal income tax, qualified overtime pay remains subject to Social Security, Medicare (F**A), state, and local taxes

6. Implementation Complexities
Payroll and HR departments face a big learning curve:

Tracking overall overtime vs. deductible overtime.

Updating payroll systems to handle separate reporting.

Managing potential withholding discrepancies (IRS hasn’t updated withholding tables for 2025 yet)
