As a business owner, I understand that building a company requires taking risks, making sacrifices, and planning for the future.

Most business owners spend years focused on growing revenue, serving clients, and supporting employees. But I've found that some of the most important conversations happen when we ask:

"What happens if something unexpected occurs?"

I've worked with business owners navigating partner transitions, succession planning challenges, and situations involving the death of a spouse or key decision-maker.

These discussions aren't always easy, but they're often the ones that have the greatest impact on a family's future and a company's continuity.

Having a plan in place before you need it can make all the difference.

10 mistakes to avoid when saving for retirement Uncover strategies to avoid retirement planning pitfalls and help secure your future.

Twenty-five years ago, I joined Ameriprise Financial as a young man just out of college. At that time, I could never have imagined the journey that lay ahead or the incredible relationships that would be built along the way.

As I reflect on this milestone, my overwhelming feeling is one of gratitude. Thank you to the clients and families who have trusted me with one of the most important responsibilities in your lives: helping manage your financial future. I approached that responsibility with seriousness and dedication in my first year, and I carry that same sense of duty today.

Over the past 25 years, I have had the privilege of helping clients navigate life's most important moments. Together we've planned for retirements, managed taxes, protected families, pursued dreams, weathered market uncertainty, and built financial confidence. We have crafted plans not just for wealth, but for the goals, values, and aspirations that make each family's story unique.

One of the greatest gifts of this profession has been witnessing how lives evolve. I've seen 30-year-olds become 55-year-olds, 40-year-olds become 65-year-olds, and 60-year-olds become 85-year-olds. Through those experiences, I've gained a unique perspective on how priorities naturally change over time and how thoughtful planning can adapt to each new chapter of life. Some of the most rewarding moments come when the conversation shifts from, "Can I afford to retire?" to "How can I enjoy what I've worked so hard to build?" There is tremendous joy in telling a client who once worried about retirement that they can now help fund a grandchild's education, take the entire family on a dream vacation, assist with a down payment on a home, or simply enjoy life without worrying about running out of money. We've also worked diligently to protect what matters most, ensuring that families are prepared should the unexpected occur. My hope is that every client who has worked with me has experienced greater peace of mind and confidence because of our relationship.

Over these 25 years, I have been fortunate to grow from a solo practitioner into a partner at an established financial planning firm, helping mentor the next generation of advisors, serving families across generations, and contributing to a team that now manages more than $1.2 billion in assets. Being recognized as part of a Forbes Best-in-State Wealth Management Team has been an honor, but the true reward has always been the trust of my clients.

To every client, colleague, family member, and friend who has been part of this journey: I humbly thank you. Your confidence, loyalty, and friendship have made these 25 years more meaningful than I ever could have imagined. I look forward to continuing the journey together and helping many more families turn their goals into realities in the years ahead.
