The Fed raised rates. What does it mean for investors?

Last week the Federal Reserve raised its benchmark interest rate by 0.25% to a target range of 3.75%–4.00%—its first increase since 2023.

While higher rates can create uncertainty, the broader economic backdrop is important. Inflation remains elevated, but the current environment is very different from 2022, with continued economic growth and strong corporate earnings.

For bond investors, there is also a silver lining: higher yields mean bonds are generating significantly more income than they have in years.

At Tortuga Wealth Management, we continue to believe that diversification, discipline, and a long-term perspective matter more than reacting to any single Fed decision.

We’ll be watching inflation, oil prices, and the Fed’s next moves closely—and continuing to help our clients understand what these developments mean for their individual financial plans.
