Ratliff Accounting and Tax

Ratliff Accounting and Tax I help service-based business owners who struggle with their numbers by acting as a translator.

This enables them to make informed decisions, regain time, and focus on their vision. I'd love to hear what your story is missing so I can help you grow! Our business mission is to help the overwhelmed love their business again. I want to take the busy work of keeping your books and doing your taxes off your plate and help you find money you didn’t know you had so you can reinvest in your business and help take some of the weight off your shoulders.

When choosing a tax accountant, talk to at least three professionals.

Ask questions. Find someone you like and feel comfortable talking to.
👉But ask about data security too.

Do they have a secure portal, or are they asking you to send tax documents to their Yahoo or Gmail address?

And don't assume .com automatically means it's secure.

Ask how they actually receive, store, and protect your information.

We don't want sensitive tax documents coming to us through regular email. Our clients have a secure portal for that.

If someone isn't comfortable sending documents digitally, we'll find another secure way to get them to us.

But either way, security is the key! It's a crazy world we live in!😜

FAQ: What's the best way to organize receipts, tax forms and other financial records so tax preparation goes smoothly?

ANSWER: Whatever way you will actually use! The perfect organization system is useless if you won’t follow through with it.

We can adapt to just about anything. Keep a file folder, save everything digitally, use a manila envelope...whatever works for you.

What matters is having a system throughout the year so that when tax season arrives, you can actually find the documents you need and get them to me securely.😁

Happy National Coffee Day! ☕

I love the caffeinated bean so much that “maybe addiction” feels like a fair assessment. Powered by coffee. Fueled by deadlines. — Your Nosey Accountant

𝗙𝗔𝗤: What documents should people start gathering now rather than waiting until January or February?

𝗔𝗡𝗦𝗪𝗘𝗥:
●Start gathering the things that may not arrive neatly in a tax form in January.

●If something significant happens financially during the year, save the paperwork when it happens.

●Keep records of estimated tax payments, retirement contributions, large asset purchases, and significant gifts, including receipts or valuations when applicable. It is much easier than trying to recreate it months later (and cheaper than paying us to recreate it). 😊

Business owners on September 25 who haven’t started their 2026 accounting:

“If I don’t look at it, it can’t hurt me.”

Oh, sweet summer child. 😬

You can hide behind the curtain, but your bank feed can still see you—and every uncategorized transaction has been quietly inviting friends.

The accounting is not going to disappear. It is going to sit there, growing stronger, until February Rachel has to deal with it.

And February Rachel is much more expensive.

Start now. Reconcile one month at a time. Ask for help if you need it. Just please stop feeding the monster.

One of the things I love about being involved with TEDxTinley Park is getting to watch this come together from the ground up.

As CFO, I’ve gotten a behind-the-scenes look at just how much work, creativity, and community support is going into bringing the first TEDxTinley Park to life, and I’m pretty darn excited to be part of the team making it happen. ❤️

Want to be part of it too? Whether you’re interested in becoming a sponsor, volunteering, or grabbing your tickets for October 4th, you can find everything here:
