Today happens to be both International Dog Day and National Women's Equality Day, and honestly, we could not have planned a more fitting combination to celebrate.

We are an all-women bookkeeping firm. We have been from the start. And as it turns out, every single one of us has a dog.

Today we are celebrating both.

Cathy, our founder, has Holly. Holly is a tan Cocker Spaniel rescue found wandering the Everglades who survived a tough start and now spends her days cuddling and giving kisses to anyone nearby.

Candy has Roxi, a Huskalier, half Husky half King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, and completely one of a kind just like her mom.

Shelly, our bookkeeper and certified tax preparer, has Diggs, a Siberian Husky and Pyrenees mix with a very specific talent for communicating his peanut butter needs. He finds his Kong and throws it at her. Every time. He always wins.

Jessica, our accountant, has Kaylee, a Schnauzer Terrier mix who has claimed Jessica's office as her permanent post and has not missed a single workday.

On a day that honors how far women have come and how much further we intend to go, we are proud to show up as a team of women who built something real, who take care of their clients, and who apparently also take very good care of their dogs.

Today is International Dog Day and we could not let it pass without introducing someone very special to our Lily Rose Numbers family.
This is Holly.
Holly is a tan Cocker Spaniel who was found wandering alone in the Everglades by a hiker who stopped to help her. She was underweight, had bald patches on her back from flea bites, and was heartworm positive when Florida Coastal Cocker Rescue took her in.
She went through heartworm treatment, got the care she needed, and then she found her way to us.
Holly is now Cathy's shadow. She loves to cuddle and give kisses, and she has absolutely no idea she was ever anything but completely loved.
Rescue dogs have a way of reminding you what really matters. We are so glad she is ours.

Here's something that surprises a lot of business owners. A business can bring in great revenue and still be cash poor. Revenue alone does not tell you the financial health of your business. What matters is how much of that revenue actually turns into usable cash after expenses, debt payments, and taxes.

Quick reminder for anyone tracking mileage for your business this year. The IRS bumped up the standard mileage rate partway through 2026 because of rising fuel costs. If you drove for business between January and June, you're working with 72.5 cents per mile. From July 1 through the end of the year, that jumps to 76 cents per mile.
