Some of you may know, and some of you may not, but my father’s birthday is on August 12th and mine is on August 14th. Many years ago, we decided to make August 13th a special day just for the two of us.

Since you were taken from us on August 10, 2017, the 13th has never been the same, and this entire week remains incredibly difficult. It has been hard to celebrate anything during this time, as we deeply feel your absence.

I wish we could have had a few more years together. I hope you are looking down on us and feeling proud of your children and grandchildren, as we have all come a long way. It is now my turn to take on the last stretch of my own years, carrying your memory with me.
