If you are 70½ or older and give to charity, do not write the check from your bank account. Send it straight from your IRA. The charity gets the same amount. You can save about $2,500 to $2,800 on a $10,000 gift (24% federal bracket plus 7% state). It can also help keep your Medicare premiums from jumping.

Our Founder, Linda Stapf, attended ProfitCON 2026 in New Jersey. Three days surrounded by some of the sharpest minds in small business finance, including Mike Michalowicz, Ron Baker, and Chris Guillebeau.

A few takeaways she is bringing home:

AI in accounting:
Alexis Kingsbury’s session on building the world’s first fully AI accounting firm was funny, thought-provoking, and more “how not to” than “how to.” It reinforced something I already believe: the firms that thrive will use AI to give clients faster answers and better insight—not just cheaper work. We’re already applying pieces of this at Stapf Financial.

Pricing and value:
Ron Baker’s “You Are What You Charge For” was a great reminder that pricing communicates what you believe your work is worth.

Culture and community:
Some of the best conversations happened in the hallways. Good reminder that great business relationships are often built outside the conference room.

Health and profit:
Nancy Trimboli’s “Bathtub Principle” connected health and business in a simple way: what you don’t manage intentionally tends to drain away.

Biggest takeaway: The best ideas are the ones simple enough to act on Monday morning.

Have an old 401(k) or 403(b) from a previous job? You have four options:

Withdraw it (taxes and possible penalties apply)
Leave it where it is
Roll it into your current employer’s plan
Roll it into a Traditional IRA

Before deciding, consider:
· How will fees change?
· Will service or investment options improve?
· Do you plan to do backdoor Roth conversions?
· Does the Rule of 55 apply to you?
· Would consolidating accounts simplify your finances?

Finding an old account is great—choosing the right next step is what matters.

Becoming wealthy isn’t just about what you earn — it’s about planning and knowing how to spend in a way that fits your reality.

Both paths work.

The key? Know your lane.

Spend in a way your income can actually sustain, and let the wealth-building plan do the rest.

Doing a Backdoor Roth IRA each year is great — but a few common mistakes can throw it off. Here are the big ones:

1️⃣ Pro Rata Rule — Having pre-tax IRA money elsewhere can make your conversion taxable.
2️⃣ Contributing but not converting — Don’t forget step two!
3️⃣ Skipping Form 8606 — This tracks your basis and prevents double taxation.
4️⃣ Reporting the conversion as taxable — Easy to misreport if you’re not careful.
5️⃣ Not investing after the conversion — Money sitting in cash doesn’t grow.

A Backdoor Roth is powerful—just make sure you do each step right. Reach out if you want to talk through a simple walkthrough!

A lot of people assume their 401(k) is completely off-limits until age 59½…but there’s a little-known rule that can make early retirement actually possible: The Rule of 55.

Here’s the gist:

If you leave your job — whether you retire, get laid off, or simply move on — in or after the year you turn 55, you can take withdrawals from that employer’s 401(k) without the 10% early-withdrawal penalty.

A few key points to keep in mind:

💙 Only applies to the 401(k) from your most recent employer
💙 You’ll still owe regular income tax
💙 No need to roll it to an IRA — you must keep it in the plan

Used correctly, the Rule of 55 can help bridge the gap between early retirement and Social Security — but only if your plan is structured the right way.

If early retirement is on your radar, make sure you understand this rule before moving any accounts around.

As a financial planner, one of the most rewarding parts of my job is giving clients the green light:

✅ You don’t have to work anymore.
✅ You can buy that house.
✅ You can move abroad.

And when they’re not quite there yet, my role is to create the roadmap that gets them there.

There’s nothing better than helping people turn their financial goals into real-life freedom. 🌎💰
