We’re so excited to officially introduce Friends of the Flock, an initiative rooted in something our team truly loves: animals. 🐾

Through Friends of the Flock, we’ll be using part of our platform to spotlight rescue organizations, share adoptable pets, and support the people doing meaningful work for animals in our communities.

For our very first rescue feature, we’re honored to highlight HomelessPetPlacementLeague 🐈🐕

For nearly 40 years, their work has made a difference for animals who deserve safety, care, and a chance at a loving home! We’re grateful for the opportunity to share a little more about who they are, what they do, and how others can help.

🦩 Let's be FRANK: Too many business owners think bookkeeping and financial strategy are the same
thing. They're not.

Bookkeeping keeps your numbers accurate. It's the data entry, the reconciliations, the reporting
that has to happen every month just to know where things stand. That part matters. But on its
own, it doesn't tell you what to do next.

"My bookkeeper handles that" often means the transactions are recorded, not that anyone's
looking at what those transactions actually mean. No one's flagging that your margin on a certain
service has been slipping for three months. No one's catching that your receivables are aging out
longer than they used to.

The books can be perfectly clean and still not be telling you anything useful.

That gap, between having accurate books and actually understanding your business, is where a
lot of owners get blindsided. Not because the numbers were wrong, but because nobody was
reading them for what they meant.

If you're not sure whether your books are just accurate or actually useful, that's a conversation

September is Preparedness Month, and for many businesses in disaster zones, that's not abstract.

Storm readiness usually focuses on generators, boarding up windows, and evacuation routes. But financial preparedness matters just as much: knowing your cash runway, having records accessible from anywhere, and understanding what your insurance actually covers if operations pause.

Q3 is wrapping up, which means it's the last real checkpoint before year-end.

A clean quarter close does more than satisfy reporting requirements. It shows you where the business actually stands: what's trending well, what's drifting from budget, and what needs attention before Q4 decisions get made.

Too often, quarterly numbers get filed away instead of used.

The businesses that grow with intention are the ones treating quarter-end as a planning tool, not just more paperwork.
