The fourth quarter begins in two days.
Many business owners won’t think about year-end tax planning until November or December. By then, time is limited, and some strategies become harder to evaluate and implement.
Starting before Q4 gives you a full quarter to:
✅ Complete a financial diagnostic
✅ Compare income and expense strategies
✅ Review compensation and distributions
✅ Evaluate retirement contributions and liquidity
✅ Determine whether your entity structure fits
✅ Identify gaps between your tax, legal, retirement, and business strategies
✅ Implement changes thoughtfully, not frantically
Starting early provides more than time. Your entity structure affects compensation and taxes. Retirement decisions affect liquidity. A strategy that appears beneficial in one area can create an unintended problem elsewhere.
Some strategies require analysis, documentation, and coordination before they can be implemented. Waiting until December can mean missing an opportunity with too little time left to act.
Fourth-quarter planning should begin before the fourth quarter does.
