On Saturday, September 13th, 2025, Mayor Ras J. Baraka and the Brick City Peace Collective are hosting the Father & Son Dress to Impress Back to School Walk. 👔📚

This event is all about celebrating fatherhood, education, and community — bringing together dads and their sons from elementary, high school, college, and grad school for a powerful show of unity. There’s even a chance to win $2,500 for first place! 💰

👉 The walk kicks off from Lincoln Park to Harriet Tubman Square, with lunch hosted by the Mayor at TinJune for registered participants.

This is such an inspiring way to highlight the importance of fathers walking hand-in-hand with their sons into a strong school year. 👏

💡 Excited to see the New York Peace Institute launch their Credible Messenger Fellowship Program!

This year-long fellowship will empower justice-impacted young leaders (ages 18–24) with training in restorative justice, conflict resolution, and advocacy—all while providing a stipend and real opportunities to strengthen communities.

Programs like this are exactly what we need to break cycles of violence and uplift the voices of those most impacted.
