Your 2025 tax return is still unfinished—but 2026 is already moving.

The October 15 extension deadline is approaching. If your return has not been completed, now is the time to get it back on track.

Brennan CPA is accepting new clients who need help completing their 2025 returns and want a more proactive tax relationship moving forward.

The goal is not simply to get through one deadline and repeat the same scramble next year. It is to establish a process for 2026 so your records, estimated payments and tax-planning decisions are addressed throughout the year.

If your 2025 return is still open, send Brennan CPA a private message to discuss your situation and the next step.

Paying a bookkeeper and a tax accountant isn’t automatically a problem.

But paying a bookkeeper throughout the year—and then paying your CPA to correct, reorganize, or spend additional time understanding those same records—can become an expensive handoff.

Here are three costs that may be hiding in that arrangement:

1. Repeated questions and explanations

Both providers need to learn your business, accounts, and transaction history.

2. Additional cleanup before the tax return can be prepared

Unreconciled accounts, inconsistent classifications, and missing information can create extra work at tax time.

3. Most importantly: no continuity between your monthly books and tax reporting

Your books may be complete without being maintained with future tax requirements in mind.

Brennan CPA offers monthly bookkeeping through a CPA firm, with services starting at $350 per month.

When bookkeeping and tax services are both provided by Brennan CPA, the firm already understands your accounts, financial activity, and business—creating fewer handoffs and better continuity throughout the year.

Final pricing depends on transaction volume, number of accounts, payroll activity, reporting requirements, and the current condition of the books. Tax preparation, cleanup, payroll, advisory services, and other additional services are priced separately.

If you currently use a bookkeeper and a separate tax accountant, contact Brennan CPA to discuss whether a more streamlined arrangement would be a better fit.

If you’re spending another weekend doing your books, your business may already be paying the price.

Here are three financial jobs small-business owners need to stop carrying alone—and the third is usually the most expensive:

1. Keeping the books updated

Falling behind creates more cleanup, more stress, and less confidence in your numbers.

2. Waiting until tax season to think about taxes

Good tax planning happens throughout the year—when there’s still time to make informed decisions.

3. Making major business decisions without clear financial information

This can cost you the most. Pricing, hiring, spending, and growth decisions shouldn’t be based only on your bank balance or a gut feeling.

You don’t have to wear every hat—or sacrifice every weekend—to run a successful business.

DM me “WEEKEND” if you’re ready to take some of the accounting and tax burden off your plate.

Most small-business owners I meet are stuck in one of two situations:

They’re paying a high monthly fee for someone to categorize transactions and send reports they don’t understand.

Or they’re spending their own nights and weekends doing the bookkeeping to save money.

Neither is a great use of resources.

For many small businesses, bank feeds, transaction rules, and receipt capture can streamline much of the routine work. A bookkeeper can efficiently handle the remaining activity—and a CPA can review the financials, identify issues, and explain what the numbers mean.

That is where the real value comes from:
• Accurate, reconciled books
• Unnecessary costs and overcharges identified
• Cash-flow and profitability trends reviewed
• Tax-planning opportunities considered before year-end
• Clear answers about how the business is actually performing

You shouldn’t have to overpay for basic data entry, and you shouldn’t have to spend your own valuable time doing everything yourself.

Not sure what level of bookkeeping support your business actually needs? DM me “BOOKS.” I’ll help you determine whether monthly bookkeeping, a quarterly review, or occasional cleanup makes the most sense.

The IRS increased the optional standard mileage rate for business driving from 72.5¢ to 76¢ per mile, effective July 1, 2026.

For 2026:
• January 1–June 30: 72.5¢ per mile• July 1–December 31: 76¢ per mile

The applicable rate is based on when the business miles were driven—not when the reimbursement is paid. Businesses should separate their 2026 mileage records between the two periods.

S corporation owners who use a personal vehicle for business may be able to receive tax-free mileage reimbursements through a properly documented accountable plan. Maintain a mileage log showing the date, destination, business purpose and miles driven.

Not sure whether the standard mileage method or actual vehicle expenses makes more sense for your business—or whether your S corporation is reimbursing you properly?
Send me a DM with “MILEAGE” to discuss your situation.

Your business may need more than tax preparation.

A tax return explains what already happened. Proactive accounting and advisory services help you understand what is happening now—and prepare for what comes next.

Three signs you may need more support from your CPA:

1. You’re generating revenue but aren’t sure how profitable the business really is.
2. Tax bills continue to catch you by surprise.
3. Major financial decisions are based primarily on the balance in your bank account.

Reliable financial reporting, year-round tax planning, and cash-flow forecasting can give you the context needed to make more informed decisions.

Brennan CPA & Advisory Services helps business owners throughout Lake Norman and the Charlotte area better understand their numbers and plan with greater confidence.

Which of these three challenges feels most familiar in your business?
