The numbers matter, but they are not the whole story.

A good financial plan starts with understanding what you are working toward, what has changed, what keeps you up at night, and what you want the next few years to look like.

That takes more than a spreadsheet.

It takes questions, listening, and a relationship strong enough to have the real conversations when life changes.

At Peterman Financial Group, planning starts with getting to know the person behind the numbers.

Two retirees can withdraw the same amount of money and end up with very different tax consequences.

Why? Because money held in a traditional retirement account, Roth account, taxable investment account, pension, or other source may be treated differently when it becomes income.

That is why retirement planning is not only about building a balance.

It is also about understanding where future income will come from, how those sources may be taxed, and how they work together.

The tax side of retirement deserves a place in the plan before withdrawals begin.

The most valuable asset in your portfolio may not be something you can measure on a statement.

It may be the people helping you make sense of the decisions behind it.

At Peterman Financial Group, financial planning is about more than investments. It is about understanding your goals, asking the right questions, and building a strategy that reflects the life you are actually planning for.

Because good advice is not just about the numbers.

It is about the relationship behind them.

Saving for retirement gets most of the attention.

Eventually, the bigger question becomes: How do you turn those savings into income that supports your life?

That means thinking about when to draw from different accounts, how taxes may affect withdrawals, when Social Security enters the picture, and how much flexibility you want for travel, healthcare, family support and the unexpected.

Accumulating assets is one phase.

Building a retirement income strategy is another.

Retirement accounts, life insurance policies and some financial accounts pass according to the beneficiary designation attached to the account.

That means an old beneficiary form can create a very different result than the one you intended.

Marriage. Divorce. Children. Grandchildren. A death in the family.

Any major life change is a good reason to review beneficiary designations and make sure they still reflect your wishes.

It is a small piece of paperwork with potentially significant consequences.
