Everyone has a Side Hustle nowadays! Do you know how much income you made in 2025 doing your side hustle? Do you know how much your expenses were in 2025?
If you have side hustle jobs, usually where you are either paid cash or work for yourself do this today to prepare for filing your tax return in just a few months:
1). If you have a separate bank account where all of that income goes, calculate the total amount of income from When you started the side hustle/Gig work until It gig work or side hustle ended. Include January 1st, 2025 to December 31, 2025.
If there is no bank account for the side hustle or gig income, look back over your receipts and records. How did you collect the money? Cash app, Chime? Go through those records, and add each one up for the complete year.
If you kept good records, this can be done expeditiously. If you did not keep good records...call someone like me! As a Trained Tax Preparer, this is what we. We assist you in building your business records accurately! This is one way we add value!
2). Once you calculate the income, now we do the same thing to calculate the total amount of expenses used to operate your gig or side hustle. Keeping good records is absolutely necessary, as accuracy is vital in completing a tax return that reflects what you earned and spent on the gig.
The expenses cover what you purchased such as supplies, mileage, labor costs, utilities, depreciation, and many other categories. Again, if this is not something you are familiar with, consult a Tax Professional! This is what we do on a routine basis.
