As my summer internship with Benton Roberson CPAs, LLC comes to a close, I’m grateful for the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the accounting profession and expand my understanding of tax and financial processes.
Throughout my internship, I assisted with reviewing state and federal tax returns, entering and reconciling credit card charges, processing monthly payroll, and working with a variety of accounting and business software, including QuickBooks, Lacerte, Microsoft Office, Excel, and Right Networks.
One of my main projects this summer was creating a comprehensive Excel spreadsheet compiling the past five years of each AMA. These spreadsheets were designed to organize historical financial information and provide useful insights for upcoming tax planning meetings. This project strengthened my Excel skills while giving me a better understanding of how historical financial data can support tax planning and client conversations.
I’m thankful to everyone at Benton Roberson CPAs, LLC for their guidance, support, and willingness to share their knowledge throughout the summer. This experience has helped me develop valuable technical and professional skills that I look forward to carrying with me as I continue my education and career.
