🚒🚑 New Montana Tax Benefit for Volunteer Firefighters and Emergency Care Providers!

Beginning with the 2026 tax year, qualifying volunteer firefighters and volunteer emergency care providers may subtract $3,000 from their Montana taxable income.

To qualify, the individual must:

🔥🚑 Serve as an active, unpaid volunteer with the same qualifying company or service for the entire calendar year
🔥 Complete at least 30 hours of required training as a volunteer firefighter, or
🚑 Complete the training prescribed by the Montana Board of Medical Examiners as an emergency care provider
📝 Obtain a signed certification letter from the fire chief or head of the emergency care service

The certification letter must include the volunteer’s name, the company or service’s name and location, confirmation that the individual was unpaid and completed the required training, and the dates of active service.

The subtraction will be claimed on the 2026 Montana Individual Income Tax Return. Please keep the signed letter with your tax records—and bring it to us when it’s time to prepare your return!

Thank you to Montana’s volunteer firefighters and emergency care providers for everything you do to protect our communities! 😊

📣 PARENTS — FREE MONEY FOR YOUR KIDS!

If you have a child age 10 or younger, take a few minutes to see if they qualify for a FREE $250 contribution to a Trump Account from Michael and Susan Dell.

The Dells have committed $6.25 BILLION to give $250 to the first 25 million eligible kids who have a Trump Account activated and live in a qualifying ZIP code.

💰 It costs nothing to open the account.
💰 You do not have to contribute your own money to receive the $250.
📈 The money is invested and has decades to grow — that $250 alone could potentially become $10,000–$15,000+ by retirement age, depending on investment returns.

Check your child’s eligibility here:
https://investamerica.org/dell/

If they qualify, don’t leave $250 of free money on the table! Even if you never add another dollar, giving that money 50+ years to compound could turn a small gift today into something pretty substantial later.

Also: children born January 1, 2025 through December 31, 2028 may qualify for a separate $1,000 federal contribution to their Trump Account.

You can learn more and open/claim a Trump Account at:
https://trumpaccounts.gov/

Share this with parents and grandparents — I would hate for eligible kids to miss out simply because their families didn’t know about it!

April 15th… WE MADE IT. 🎉

Another tax season officially in the books and what a ride. Thank you to everyone involved! The clients, the staff… even the printer. Truly couldn’t have done it without your trust, dedication, and incredible kindness.

Reflecting this evening, I realized this was my 10th tax season. A whole decade of late nights, paper stacks, problem-solving, and helping people navigate something that can feel really overwhelming. It’s a little surreal to look back and see how far things have come.

For now, we’re taking a very necessary breather; our office will be closed April 16th & 17th so we can recharge, reset, and maybe remember what life is like outside of tax returns 😄

Seriously though, thank you for being part of this journey. We made it, we survived, and I’m excited to see what the next chapter brings.

Cheers to a little rest… and then back at it 💼✨

📬 Important USPS Update for Tax Filings & Time-Sensitive Mail

Postmarks can no longer be relied on as proof that something was mailed on a certain date. The USPS has clarified that the date stamped on your envelope usually reflects when your mail is processed at a postal facility, not necessarily when you dropped it off.

📬 That means items like tax returns, payments, legal filings, and other time-sensitive forms could be considered late if they’re mailed close to a deadline and processed afterward.

✅ What to do:

Mail important items several days ahead of the due date

Or go to the counter and request a same-day manual postmark or use certified mail to verify the mailing date

If you have questions about mailing tax payments or filing deadlines, or want help switching to electronic options, reach out. We’re here to help!

Just dropping that tax return off at your local post office may no longer be proof that you met the deadline.
