ERO’s have received IRS due diligence letters. What’s been uncovered is honestly disheartening.
Some didn’t even know they were supposed to have client intake forms. Some have no workflows, no systems, no documentation.
One was literally taught that you “just add education credits” to boost refunds — so half her clients had credits they didn’t qualify for.
And that’s not their fault alone. That’s what happens when people are taught shortcuts instead of standards. Let me be very clear: the IRS is not a game. This industry is not “play play.” Fast money will cost you everything.
We’re talking fines.
We’re talking penalties.
We’re talking possible criminal investigations.
And the saddest part? A lot of these people genuinely wanted to do right they just were never taught the right way. So hear me when I say this, with love and urgency:
I don’t care if you hire me or hire somebody else — get your tax business together.
Learn due diligence. Stop doing illegal, fraudulent nonsense. Educate yourself.
Put systems in place. Take this industry seriously.
Your business, your livelihood, your freedom, and your future are worth more than a boosted refund or a viral “tax hack.”
There is a right way to do taxes. And it protects you just as much as it protects your clients. Please invest in yourself. Do your own due diligence.
This is me speaking from experience, not judgment. I don’t want to see anybody lose everything over what could’ve been prevented. When you know better you do better❤️🙏🏾
