October 15 is next Thursday.
If you filed an extension back in April, that's your final deadline to file your 2025 return.
Here's what most people get wrong: an extension gave you more time to file, not more time to pay. If you still owe, penalties and interest have been building since April 15.
And if you're avoiding filing because you can't pay, that choice usually costs you more. The IRS penalizes not filing far more harshly than not paying:
πΉ Failure to file: 5% of the unpaid tax per month, up to 25%
πΉ Failure to pay: 0.5% per month
In most cases, that's 10x the penalty for staying silent.
So even if you can't pay a dime right now, file anyway. You have options for the balance, like payment plans and penalty relief. But those options start with a filed return.
Don't let October 15 pass quietly. π
