Sunday in the South 🤎

October has finally made its way to Mississippi, and even though Mother Nature hasn’t completely gotten the memo that it’s fall yet, we’ll take every little hint of cooler weather she gives us.

This time of year always feels like a little turning point. Summer is winding down, the days are getting shorter, football is on, and there’s just something about October that makes you want to slow down and enjoy the simple things a little more.

Around the office, we’re beginning to look ahead too. Tax season will be here quicker than any of us think — but today, the paperwork can wait.

It’s Sunday.

Enjoy your family. Eat something good. Sit outside if the mosquitoes will allow it. 😂 And take a little time to enjoy where you are before Monday gets here.

Happy Sunday, y’all. ❤️

📌 Tax Tip: Estimated Taxes Aren’t Just for the Self-Employed

When people hear “estimated tax payments,” they often think only of business owners and self-employed taxpayers — but that isn’t always the case.

You may need to consider estimated tax payments if you receive income that doesn’t have enough federal tax withheld, such as certain investment income, rental income, retirement income or other taxable income.

The IRS recently reminded taxpayers that checking your withholding and estimated tax situation during the year can help prevent an unexpected tax bill when it’s time to file.

If your income or financial situation has changed during 2026 — a new job, side business, retirement, investment income or other major change — now is a good time to make sure your tax withholding is still on track.

📌 EXTENSION CLIENTS — A LITTLE REMINDER!

October 15 will be here before we know it!

If you filed an extension for your 2025 tax return and still need to get your information to me, now is a great time to start gathering everything together. Please don’t wait until the last minute — the closer we get to the deadline, the busier things become.

If I’m already working on your return or we’ve already been in contact, no worries — you’re on my radar! 💙

But if you still need to get your documents to me, give me a call or message me so we can get you taken care of.

Just a friendly reminder—if you filed a tax extension, October will be here before we know it!

If you’re still waiting on tax documents or haven’t scheduled a time to complete your return, now is the perfect time to get started. Filing before the deadline helps avoid the stress of last-minute preparation and gives us plenty of time to make sure your return is accurate and complete.

I truly appreciate the trust you place in me to prepare your taxes. If you’re ready to get your return finished, give me a call to schedule your appointment. I look forward to helping you get everything wrapped up well before the deadline.

Thank you for your continued support!

Just a quick reminder for Mississippi taxpayers:

The IRS has extended certain federal tax deadlines for Mississippi residents and businesses affected by the winter storms earlier this year. The current federal relief deadline is June 8, 2026. (IRS)

If you’ve been putting off filing, still need to handle paperwork, or have received IRS notices you haven’t dealt with yet, now is a good time to get ahead of it before the last-minute rush starts again.

And one more thing:there are also several new tax law changes beginning this season involving overtime pay, tips, and other deductions that many people are hearing about online — but not all of the information floating around is accurate yet. (IRS)

If you’re unsure what applies to you, it’s always better to ask questions now than untangle problems later.

Steady and one step at a time.

From behind this desk, I’ve learned something over the years:

Most people don’t come through that door because they love paperwork.

They come in carrying stress.
Questions.
Sometimes embarrassment.
Sometimes fear they waited too long.

And more often than not, what they really need is someone calm enough to say,
“Alright… let’s look at it together.”

That’s the part of this work that matters most to me.

Not just the forms and numbers —
but helping people leave feeling lighter than when they walked in.

So if something’s been weighing on you lately — taxes, bookkeeping, payroll, letters, or just not knowing where to start — don’t let it sit there another month worrying you.

We’ll figure it out.

Steady and one step at a time.

Real talk for a minute—

A lot of folks wait because they think they need everything lined up before they walk through my door.

Receipts perfect. Papers sorted. Questions figured out.

Truth is… you don’t.

If something doesn’t make sense to you, that’s exactly when you come see me.

That’s what I’m here for.

We’ll sit down, go through it together, and get it handled the right way — no guessing, no rushing.

If it’s been on your mind, don’t carry it another week.

I’m in the office today.

From behind the desk today—

One thing you can expect moving forward:

👉 There’s less room for guesswork than ever before.

If it’s on a tax return,
it needs to be backed up.

Not “I think.”
Not “that’s what I was told.”
Not “that’s what we did last year.”

Just facts.
Just documentation.
Just what can be proven.

The system is changing—
and it’s becoming more about what you can support,
not just what you can enter.

Save this. It matters more than people realize.
