Your P&L says you made money… so why is there no money in the bank? 🤔

It’s one of the most common questions we hear from business owners.

Profit and cash flow are NOT the same thing.

Loan payments, credit card balances, inventory purchases, owner distributions, accounts receivable, and timing can all create a big difference between what your P&L says you earned and what’s actually sitting in the bank.

Good bookkeeping doesn’t just tell you whether you made a profit. It helps you understand where the cash went.

📣PSA - If you’re paying contractors, don’t wait until January to start tracking down the information you’ll need for 1099s.

Make collecting a completed W-9 part of your onboarding process - ideally before the first payment is made.

It’s tempting to log into online banking, see money sitting there, and assume business is good.

But that balance doesn’t tell you:

💰 What bills are still outstanding
💳 What you owe on credit cards
📦 What you’ve spent on inventory
🧾 What taxes you still need to pay
💸 Whether you’re actually profitable

Your bank balance tells you how much cash you have today.

Your financials tell you how your business is actually performing.

You need both.
