One of our favorite interns will be dancing in a taco suit near the Broadway and Santa Maria way intersection today. Drive by and give him a honk, or better yet come get some tacos!

It was great to take some time out of the office this last weekend and watch one of our favorite interns compete with his team.

His Vortex squad took down the Labor Day NCS tournament in Paso Robles, and they’re now starting to prepare to represent the Central Coast in Las Vegas later this year at a Perfect Game tournament.

The team is raising funds for that trip with a taco plate fundraiser this Saturday. Presale tickets are available now (Venmo, Apple Pay, or other digital payment methods are accepted) or walk ups are welcome on Saturday (but will be cash only).

Hope to see you there!

The summer interns are back in school. While we will miss having them around the office, we know they’ll come back next summer another year wiser and ready to contribute even more.

Very proud of our interns this weekend. Jacob went 4 for 5 at the plate this weekend, and not to be outdone, Trevor hit three home runs today. Enjoy it tonight but back to work tomorrow boys!

Two of our favorite interns are looking forward to a summer playing with Vortex Baseball. The Vortex program will have teams competing in the 8u, 9u, 10u, 11u, and 12u divisions this year, and the program is looking for some sponsors. If you or your business may be interested in doing some advertising and supporting a great group of boys, let me know and I'll get you more info!

Happy Easter from our family to yours (our youngest intern decided to devour a blue cupcake right before we took a picture)!

Tax season may feel like it's just getting started, but the filing deadline for pass-through entities-including LLCs taxed as partnerships, partnerships (form 1065), and s-corporations (form 1120-S)-is fast approaching. For calendar year filers, returns are due Monday, March 16th.

If you won't be ready to file by then, submit an extension request by the deadline to avoid late-filing penalties. This will typically give you until September 15th to file.

Important reminder: An extension gives you more time to file, not more time to pay. Any taxes owed (including pass-through elective taxes) must be paid by the original deadline to avoid late-payment penalties and interest.

Took a little time out of the office this weekend to watch our sponsored Vortex team play. One of our favorite interns left the weekend with a championship and the MVP. Great job Trevor!

Tax season 2026 is in full swing, and I am noticing larger refunds this year due to recent changes in tax law.

However, the largest refund possible—essentially giving the government an interest-free loan throughout the year—is not the ultimate goal.

Tax planning is a two-way street. Our aim is to ensure clients don't owe money and to minimize their tax liability as much as possible. At the same time, we also focus on reducing withholding or estimated tax amounts when feasible.

Big news for charitable givers under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act: Starting in 2026, you don't need to itemize deductions to get a tax break on your donations!

Even if you take the standard deduction (like most Americans do), you can now deduct up to $1,000 in cash contributions if you're single (or head of household), or up to $2,000 if married filing jointly.

This is an above-the-line deduction for qualified cash gifts directly to public charities (think checks, credit cards, or electronic transfers—not donor-advised funds or private foundations).

It means everyday donors—those without big mortgage interest, medical bills, or other itemized write-offs—can finally lower their taxable income and get real tax savings from their generosity. Small acts of giving just got a little more rewarding!
