Is Pay Required for ‘Sleep Time?’ What About ‘On-Call Time?’ Employers that face sleeping time and on-call time situations should review federal rules and guidance, consult legal counsel, and ensure that they are paying employees properly.

The Internal Revenue Service announced it will phase out paper refund checks for individual taxpayers starting with the 2026 filing season.

If you are part of the 7% of taxpayers who get refunds by paper check, it is time to start planning for this change.

IRS to phase out paper tax refund checks starting with individual taxpayers | Internal Revenue Service IR-2025-94, Sept. 23, 2025 — The Internal Revenue Service, working with the U.S. Department of the Treasury, today announced that paper tax refund checks for individual taxpayers will be phased out beginning on Sept. 30, 2025, as required by Executive Order 14247, to the extent permitted by law.

Periodically (the key is to do it randomly):

* Ask to see the bank reconciliation report
* Review your credit card activity
* Review the bank statement
* Ask to see the invoices for odd transactions
