You know the vibes when all your transactions are automatically syncing + everything reconciles down to the penny?
Here's how you get there as a small business owner who wants to do their own bookkeeping: ↓
1️⃣ Sync your bank accounts to your bookkeeping software.
2️⃣ For each transaction, double-check that it's categorized correctly. For example, an Amazon order for printer paper would be "Office Supplies", or a Google ad would be "Marketing".
3️⃣ Confirm auto-rules or matched credit card payments are correct before accepting them.
4️⃣ If your sales are being pulled in from your CRM or payment processor, check to make sure nothing is double-counted!
5️⃣ Upload + attach receipts for big/unusual purchases to the appropriate transaction.
6️⃣ Reconcile your accounts to ensure each account matches its source document (like a bank or CC statement).
7️⃣ Run your financial reports and benchmark your performance towards your 2026 goals.
*Pssst* Don't wanna worry about all that? If you hire me, I'll do all the behind-the-scenes work that ends with you getting your financial reports delivered to your inbox every month instead! 📧

Hi, I'm Adriana, and most of my clients feel *just* like you! 👋
I regularly hop on discovery calls where business owners tell me their bookkeeping stresses them out, makes them feel ashamed, or some other horribly negative emotion that is common (but NOT normal).
The reason bookkeeping feels like such a chore is because you aren't sure what you're doing (and you've got being a lot to worry about).
I'm going to sound super dorky, but I truly LOVE diving into an entrepreneurs messy bookkeeping, sorting things out, and ending up with a clean, reconciled file! 📚

I know it sounds like I'm asking you for alphabet soup when I let you know which forms I need to file your return, but there are some EVERY taxpayer really *should* know.
Even if you aren't a tax accountant, know these:
✨ Form 1040: Your main tax return form! It’s where all your income, credits, and refund (or amount owed) are reported.
✨ Form W-2: From your employer, it shows your wages, taxes withheld, and benefits for the year.
✨ Form 1099-NEC: If you’re self-employed, this form reports your non-employee compensation for services you provided during the year.
✨ Form 1099-INT: From your bank/financial institution, this form shows the amount of interest you earned.
✨ Schedule A: Part of your Form 1040, this schedule details the amount of each of your itemized deductions (if applicable).
✨ Form 1095-A: Used to report information if you have insurance coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace, your accountant will need this!
I'm accepting new clients for the 2026 filing season. DM me or text 210-758-2961!
🤓 If you're interviewing tax accountants right now, make sure you ask these questions:
→ What's included in your tax preparation fee, and what services are add-ons?
Not every firm has all-inclusive pricing. If you have multiple businesses or income from multiple states, you'll want to understand *exactly* how much that's going to cost you. 💸
→ How do you prioritize tax returns, and how do you communicate the status of my return?
A lot of accountants work on a first-come, first-serve basis, but some are moving towards a scheduled return date. 📆
Getting expectations straight early can help you avoid frustration later on in tax season!
→ What kind of support do you offer after my return is filed?
In my opinion, *every* taxpayer needs more than just tax preparation. 👀
Ask about whether your accountant offers tax planning services, support for IRS + state notices, and one-off tax consulting meetings (spoiler: we do all three!).

The KEY to creating a budget for your business that you'll actually stick to?
Giving yourself flexibility!
I'll be the first to admit, I get a little hard on myself when I go over budget...
And when I *know* I'm going over budget, it's easy to fall into the trap of simply not looking at my numbers at all.
But I beat that trap by giving myself grace! 🫶
When I pull up my bookkeeping to compare how much I actually spent vs. what I budgeted, if there's a really good reason I went over in a certain expense category, I simply adjust my budget for that moving forward.
The budget you create in January doesn't have to be your set-in-stone spending for 2026; it should adapt with your business as life happens!

As an entrepreneur, not only are you responsible for sending out any 1099s, but there's a good chance you're going to be receiving one (or more)!
👉 Swipe to learn the steps I recommend following for each 1099 you receive (because the last thing you want to do is lose one of them in your mail or inbox).
If you get to step 3 and find your books are waaay off from the 1099s you're getting, that's a red flag. 🚩

PSA: Business Owners!!
Let me save you a headache later this year when one of your employees says they "never received their W-2 and their accountant is asking for it." 🤦
Take the time NOW to confirm all of your employees' mailing addresses before you file + send their W-2s. 📬

Words you probably never thought would come out of my mouth: there's a world where you DON'T have to pay your IRS penalties. ❌
If it's your first time getting hit with a *certain* type of tax penalty, and you have a history of good tax compliance, you might qualify for first-time penalty abatement.
Got hit with your first penalty, but need some help getting it forgiven? Message me! 📲
