House passes bipartisan tax bill to expand child tax credit The bill includes $33 billion to expand the widely used child tax credit for three years — including the tax season currently underway, provided the bill quickly passes the Senate.

Most likely the chance the refundable portion of child tax credit will be expanded effective for your 2023 tax returns. If you have kids, hold off on filing until the changes are implemented.

Tax bill reduced from $300,000 to $0. Taxpayer sold his primary residence, correctly reported the sale on his tax return, properly applying the home owner exemption. IRS says he didn’t report it. I send a photocopy of the tax return with the sale info circled in red. The IRS responded that he still didn’t report it. I had to resubmit this 2 times before they finally gave in. All the while the taxpayer is battling cancer and the last thing he needed was the stress from an erroneous $300,000 tax bill. Finally he’s free of this tax bill and even better his cancer is in remission.
