THIS MORNING, JUNE 21, 2024, THE IRS CAME OUT WITH NEW GUIDANCE CONCERNING THE EMPLOYEE RETENTION CREDIT (ERC).

The IRS has progressed to the next phase of reviewing claims for the ERC program prior to the moratorium. Claims deemed "low risk" will be processed first, with payments expected to start later this summer, prioritizing older claims. Claims not categorized as low risk will undergo further analysis with the goal of speeding up the resolution time of valid claims.

The moratorium on processing claims filed after September 13, 2023, remains in effect, with these claims expected to be addressed in the next phase. Taxpayers are advised to await further notification from the IRS regarding their claims. Updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
