We are deeply saddened by the passing of Gary Daugherty, a longtime volunteer with Americans for Prosperity–Illinois who gave his time and energy to making his community and our state a better place.

Gary’s commitment to service included serving as an Illinois state representative and a Kane County Board member. We are especially grateful for the years he spent volunteering alongside us.

Gary possessed a sharp intellect and a curious mind. He brought knowledge, conviction, and thoughtful questions to conversations, along with a warm smile and an unmistakable laugh. He cared deeply about his community and never hesitated to speak his mind.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Gary’s family, his girlfriend Candy, and everyone who loved him.

Thank you for your service and friendship, Gary. You will be missed.

WOW! Last night - thanks to the over 25 volunteers who participated - we mailed out over 700 postcards to voters advocating for a 1% property tax cap ! A HUGE thank you to everyone who showed up to help fight for a better, more affordable, Illinois.

Without help from our volunteers, none of this would be possible. Every small step we take is another step towards a more prosperous Illinois!

A big shout out to the Republicans of Wheeling Township and the Republicans of Elk Grove Township for helping organize this event!
