On the first day of school, our daughter accidentally backed into Grandpa Mike’s truck.
That evening, she faced him, owned her mistake, and they agreed she would pay for the parts and they would fix it together. We gave her a deadline to make sure fixing it remained a priority, but she did the work, with Grandpa patiently teaching her along the way.
She learned that making things right can cost you, but it’s worth it. She learned to act quickly, accept grace, and discovered she’s pretty capable with her hands.
What began as a mistake became a great life lesson—plus $250 in parts and breakfast for Grandpa.
P.S. - It looks like my son got to learn indirectly too.
