Fall in River Falls is something special. The leaves are turning, the mornings are crisp, and our weekends are still running on soccer schedules and travel mugs of coffee.

This time of year always reminds me to slow down for a minute, even when the calendar says otherwise. Business and family both ask a lot of us in the fall, and I’m grateful for both.

For me, fall looks like a cozy Saturday morning with my family, a warm cup of coffee, and a little time to enjoy the season before the holiday rush begins.

The In-Person QBO Class is a 3-part series meeting on three Wednesdays:

Across the three sessions, you’ll get practical instruction, time to work through the process, and direct support so you can build a bookkeeping routine that makes sense for your business.

This class interweaves natural wisdom and elements of Chinese Medicine to help shift expectations and embrace the season. Together, we will explore various practices and herbal allies that support the body, mind, and heart throughout the season of winter.

Kara Fischenich (formerly Swensen) is a practicing herbalist and integrative nutritionist. Her main office is located just outside of Mankato, MN with a second office in Zumbrota, MN. She offers one-on-one herbal consultations, leads local plant walks, and teaches a variety of herbal workshops. Kara is passionate about working with plants that grow in her bioregion as well as connecting with and living in tune with nature.

A few weeks into the school year, and I’m still not going to pretend our mornings are running smoothly.

Between packing lunches, finding matching socks, and getting to my desk in time for client calls, I’ve learned that coffee is definitely not optional in September.

Balancing two young kids and a full client list means my calendar looks like a puzzle most days, but it’s a puzzle I actually enjoy solving. Turns out, that’s true for spreadsheets too.
