Tax planning: because “I’ll deal with it at tax time” is not actually a strategy. 😂💸

Let’s plan ahead, avoid the surprises, and keep more of your money where it belongs.

Ok this one is cute and spot on because I’m totally a dog lover 🐕 🐾 💗

Ask ChatGPT to make a mascot for you using the following prompt:

Give my personality a mascot using what you know about me and the uploaded photo for my appearance, invent a funny cartoon mascot that represents my personality. Feature a glamorous cartoon version of me posing beside the mascot as if we are an iconic duo. The mascot can be an animal, creature, object, or completely imaginary character. Give it one small accessory or detail that connects it to me. Add its name and one short tagline explaining its energy. Keep everything else minimal. White background, clean composition, polished colorful cartoon artwork. Do not ask me what the mascot should be. You decide.

A NEW TAX RULE FOR CASUALTY & DISASTER LOSSES

Starting with the 2026 tax year, the new tax law expands the personal casualty loss deduction.

Previously, personal casualty losses generally had to be connected to a federally declared disaster to qualify. Beginning in 2026, certain losses connected to a state-declared disaster may qualify too. 🏡🔥🌊

That could include losses from events such as wildfires, floods, earthquakes, storms and other qualifying disasters.

But there’s an important catch:
A qualifying loss doesn’t necessarily mean the entire amount is deductible. Insurance and other reimbursements have to be taken into account, and state-declared disaster losses are generally subject to the $100-per-event and 10%-of-adjusted-gross-income limitations.

📅 And timing matters.
This expansion begins with the 2026 tax year. It doesn’t simply change the rules for casualty losses claimed on a 2025 or earlier return.

Every disaster and every taxpayer’s situation can be a little different, so don’t assume a loss does—or doesn’t—qualify based on what you’ve heard online.

If you’ve experienced a casualty or disaster loss and aren’t sure what it means for your taxes, reach out. I’m always happy to talk it through with you. 💗

📬 Can't get through to the IRS? You're not imagining it.

Lately, I've been hearing the same frustrations from clients over and over:

☎️ Hours on hold with the IRS
📄 Notices that are difficult to understand
💻 Online accounts that aren't showing updated balances
⏳ Delays in processing payments, refunds, and correspondence

We're halfway through the year, and I'll be honest with you about something I'm watching closely heading into next tax season:

The IRS is operating with fewer people than it used to. That means longer wait times, slower processing, and issues that can take months—not days—to resolve.

It can be incredibly frustrating to receive a letter you didn't expect and then spend hours trying to get answers from a phone line that never seems to pick up.

That's exactly why I'm here. 💗

When something comes from the IRS, you don't have to figure it out alone. Bring it to me, and we'll work through it together. Whether it's a notice, a balance due question, or simply understanding what's happening, you'll have someone in your corner.

Here's to being the calm in the storm—no matter what the IRS throws our way. 🤷🏼‍♀️💕

🔒 Protect yourself.

Tax season isn't the only time scammers are working. Identity thieves and fraudsters are becoming more sophisticated every year, which is why the IRS is increasing its efforts to combat tax-related scams.

A quick reminder:
🚫 The IRS will not call, text, or email you unexpectedly demanding payment or personal information.
🚫 Don't click suspicious links.
🚫 Don't share sensitive information unless you're certain who you're communicating with.

If something doesn't feel right, trust that instinct.

As your tax professional, protecting your information is just as important to me as preparing your return. If you ever receive a notice, email, text, or phone call that seems questionable, send it my way before responding. I'd rather answer a quick question than see you become the victim of a scam.

We're in this together. 💗
