Ever wondered how you ACTUALLY pay yourself from your boutique?

My favorite answers to that question is inside the Profit First Method.

If you’ve ever been curious about it or how it can help you feel confident in your boutique’s cash flow, I want to invite you to join us for this month’s training inside the Bookkeeping Made Simple for Boutique’s membership.

We’re going to walk through:
- what the Profit First Method is
- how to customize it to fit your unique retail business
- how to actually set it up so you can start using it right away

This will be a live training on Monday, July 27th at 2 PM Central Time. A replay will be available inside the membership. To join us inside, visit findingfreedomfinancial.com/membership or click the link in my bio

Unpopular opinion. A lot of bookkeeping advice is designed to keep you confused, not to help you.

The jargon. The overcomplicated processes. The 45-minute explanation for something that takes 5.

Half of it exists so the industry can feel indispensable. Not because it actually needs to be that hard.

You do not need to think like an accountant to run a profitable boutique. You need plain language, a repeatable system, and about 60 minutes a month.

That’s the whole philosophy behind everything I teach. If an explanation ever makes you feel dumber instead of more confident, that is not on you.

What’s a numbers question you’ve always felt embarrassed to ask? No dumb questions here.

Five years ago I walked away from a steady corporate accounting job with no clients lined up.

Just a severance check, a business plan, and a toddler and newborn at home.

I won’t lie, there were days that felt like a mistake. But looking back, that leap taught me things no accounting textbook ever could.

This week on the podcast I’m sharing all 5 lessons from my first 5 years in business (the pivot, the loneliness, using AI without losing my voice, and more).

It’s a different kind of episode for me. Less QuickBooks, more real talk.

Your boutique has three financial reports. And if you can't confidently read any of them, you're not behind — you were just never shown how.

That's the whole reason boutique owners avoid their numbers. Not because it's too hard. Because nobody ever sat them down and explained it.

So here's your starting point: the P&L (are you making money?), the balance sheet (what do you own and owe?), and cash flow (where did the money actually go?).

When those three click, you stop running your shop on hope and start running it on facts.

My free masterclass, Make Your Money Make Sense, walks you through all of it — plus the simple system to keep your numbers right at your fingertips all year. I just redid the whole thing.

If tax season is the FIRST time you find out whether you made money this year, we need to talk.

That’s not a tax problem. That’s a bookkeeping problem. And it’s fixable way before April.

Comment MONEY for the free masterclass that shows you exactly what to track so you always know where you stand.

A good sales month doesn’t always mean a profitable one.

There’s one number that tells you the truth: Your break even point.

It’s the amount of sales you need to cover everything your boutique costs to run.

Cross that number, and you’re finally in PROFIT territory.

Stay under it, and you’re just covering costs no matter how busy you were.

Most boutique owners have never actually calculated theirs. They’re just watching the bank account and hoping.

I walk through exactly how to find your break even point in Episode 40 of The Boutique Bookkeeper Show

"Are you profitable?"

If that question makes you freeze, you're in good company. It's one of the most common things I hear from boutique owners.

You're making sales. You're busy. But whether you're actually MAKING money? Total shrug.

Here's the problem: you've probably never set a sales goal based on real numbers. You picked something that sounded good, or copied another shop's number off Instagram.

The number that fixes this is your break-even point — the exact sales figure where you stop losing and start keeping.

Once you know it, your sales goal stops being a guess.

My latest episode walks you through how to find yours. Comment EP40 and I'll send it over.
