🚨 Refund Date Confusion? Let’s Clear It Up 🚨

There has been a lot of discussion about funding dates, cycle codes like 04 or 0505, and IRS transaction code 846. Here is what actually controls your refund timing.

• Transaction Code 846 on your IRS transcript = the official Refund Issued date. This is when the IRS releases the funds.
• Cycle codes 04, 05, 0505 = internal processing cycles. They show when your account updates, not when you get paid.
• Funding dates shown in a tax preparer’s software = internal or projected bank dates. They do not override the IRS transcript.

If your tax preparer’s software shows 2/25, but your IRS transcript shows 846 dated 3/09, the IRS release date is 3/09. The transcript controls the timing.
