I’ve always taken my role very seriously because I know the impacts of my work.

Most people don’t realize the 2008 economy crash was largely due to a journal entry, yes you read that right- Hello Enron.

I remember being so angry in my ethics class discussing this period of our economy. Accounting is another language and the people who I’ve seen their mistakes this year, aren’t intentionally trying to hurt others, most likely they are overwhelmed and short staffed… hello mindset work and taking breaks!

But it does hurt clients and it’s why I take breaks, step away, hold firm boundaries, and pour into myself. Because I show up better for YOU! 💜

Someone once told me - “there’s cheap, fast, and accurate. I can’t do accurate, fast and cheap”.

When you’re a corporate accountant you have regulations, audits, internal controls, tax prep, ect.

When I switched to working with small businesses?

IT, systems, and mindset coaching. The accounting I’m doing isn’t actually complicated.

If I’m not trying to figure out how the heck you unintentionally broke a system module, I’m serving encouragement.

The people I work with are smart AF! Half the time they’ve researched a subject, but they are overwhelmed trying to make decisions solo. Let’s also be real it’s a lot trying to learn just enough about everything!

So give yourself permission to not hire a cheap accountant because your limiting beliefs say ‘it’s just bookkeeping’… it’s not and you shouldn’t just be hiring a contractor. Work with a partner that will reassure you and have the patience to explain stuff when you’re overwhelmed in ways you can understand 😘
