What’s the difference between a CFO and an accountant?
Clients often come to us asking about fractional CFO services, but after a brief conversation, we discover that they’re better off establishing fundamental systems before looking for that degree of high-level expertise.
Let’s start with what CFOs aren’t:
❌ Bookkeepers (they’re entry-level professionals who track day-to-day expenses, and handle things like accounts payable or bank reconciliations)
❌ Accountants (they’re mid-level professionals who review the work of bookkeepers, compile financial reports, and officially close your books at the end of the month)
✅ CFOs are senior-level experts. They provide high-level guidance, establish key performance indicators, and provide crucial advice on rightsizing and cost-cutting.
Bookkeepers and accountants help navigate day-to-day and month-to-month operations, while CFOs bring forward-looking strategic advice that guides you toward growth and sustainability.
Businesses with at least $500k or $1M revenue certainly need a bookkeeper or accountant, but probably don’t need a CFO. They’re better suited to Series A or Series B startups or businesses with many millions in revenue.

What’s it actually like to work with indinero?
Switching systems can be a headache. We know.
That’s why we’ve built an onboarding process designed to keep things smooth, simple, and low-stress from day one.
Here’s how it works:
Consultation: A conversation first, so we understand where you’re headed and what’s in the way.
Information sharing: You share the essentials (software access or statements), and we review carefully and confidentially.
Comprehensive analysis: Our team digs in, surfaces what matters, and shapes a solution around your specific needs.
Partnership kickoff: From there, we work side by side to sharpen your processes and give you the tools to make decisions with confidence.
We'll handle the numbers. You focus on growth.

What sets indinero apart from other accounting firms?
1️⃣ Communication
When something important comes up, we know you can’t afford to wait.
But one of the biggest problems in our industry is an unreachable accountant.
That’s why we guarantee 24-hour response times to all client communications (though you’ll often hear from us sooner).
2️⃣ Full stack services
We handle everything from ad-hoc projects to bookkeeping, accounting, tax, payroll, and more.
Why?
Because it saves our clients time.
Too often, companies stitch together their finance function with multiple partners. But three vendors who all need the same information, relying on your input to coordinate everything?
That’s a headache waiting to happen.
3️⃣ A deep bench of expertise
Every industry has unique needs, and at a certain point, it’s hard to rely on a generalist to solve specialized problems.
That’s why we have over 100+ accountants on staff. If something unique comes up, you can count on our team’s internal expertise to handle it.

How do businesses handle uneven or unpredictable cash flow?
Three quick tips 💡
1️⃣ Cash buffers are crucial
Just like households are advised to keep six months' expenses in the bank, businesses should strive to keep some savings in reserve as well.
2️⃣ Credit lines can fill gaps
You shouldn’t rely on them too much, but they’re great for solving short-term challenges.
3️⃣ Better accounts payable systems can address slow invoicing
If you’re overwhelmed with manual processes, looking into automating some of the work can help. Offering clients discounts for advance payments is another solution many business owners find fruitful.

When clients leave reviews (thank you!), some of our most consistent feedback is that we’ve helped improve margins. But how, exactly?
Don’t accounting firms just handle books and tax filings?
Not entirely.
Our fractional CFOs help growing businesses look beyond vanity metrics, and uncover what will actually move the needle for your bottom line.
We like to say if you’re not seeing a return on investment, we’re doing something wrong.
