Sam, Tucker, Nate, and Tyler represented Penobscot Financial Advisors at the 4th Annual Tunnel to Towers Foundation Charity Golf Tournament, hosted by Throttle Car Club.

All proceeds go to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which supports the families of fallen first responders and service members and builds mortgage-free homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders.

We were proud to sponsor the tournament and grateful for a beautiful fall day on the course. Thank you to Throttle Car Club and to everyone who came out to support the cause.

Medicare does not switch on automatically when you turn 65. For most people it takes action, and several of the deadlines carry penalties that last for life.

The one that surprises people most: COBRA does not count as current employer coverage for Part B. If you are on COBRA past 65 and have not enrolled in Part B, the penalty clock is already running.

Retire at 60 and you are funding five years of health insurance before Medicare begins. There is something new worth knowing this year.

The enhanced marketplace subsidies that ran from 2021 through 2025 expired at the end of last year, so the subsidy cliff is back for 2026. Above about $62,600 for an individual or $84,600 for a couple, premium tax credits stop completely. That makes your income planning and your coverage planning the same conversation.

You will be covering your own health insurance until Medicare begins, and for many Maine families that turns out to be the largest variable expense of early retirement.
