“Wrapping Up Summer”

Back to school shopping and the beginning of football season means that fall tax season is here. To ease our transition, we had “wrapping up summer” where we tried almost every wrap at surrounding restaurants over the last few weeks.

McDonald’s, Hawaiian Brothers, Salad-N-Go, Jersey Mike’s, and Jimmy John’s helped us “wrap up” our summer. We are ready to tackle this next season!

My mother was a real estate agent— one that worked 80+ hours per week, never took a vacation in the busy summer months, and was always connected to pagers and phones. She was successful, driven, and smart! My mother was a real estate agent before so many people thought it was an easy career with easy entry and flexible hours. Not all real estate agents are the same.

I feel that the new career that people seem to be jumping into that they can work part time and is “easy” is bookkeeping. I often tell my clients that bookkeeping is an art— and no two artists are the same- and some artists are terrible. I’ve worked with a large number of bookkeepers in my career and can still use less than 2 hands to count the number of bookkeepers that have been good artists. Before you hire a bookkeeper, please make sure you do your research. Ask them tough questions! Your CPA will thank you. I often have to tell clients that the money they spent for their bookkeeper was wasted because of the quality of the bookkeeper’s work product. Not all bookkeepers are the same!
