đ Busy Isnât the Goal. Building Something That Works Is.
Some of the most important moments in business arenât the ones everybody sees.
They happen right here.
At the desk.
Reviewing the numbers.
Looking at what worked.
Being willing to admit what didnât.
Planning the next move.
And making decisions today that your future business will thank you for.
After more than 25 years in accounting, Iâve learned something that I wish every entrepreneur understood:
Your numbers arenât there to intimidate you. Theyâre there to INFORM you.
They can tell you when youâre growing.
They can tell you when youâre working too hard for too little profit.
They can tell you whether that new opportunity is really an opportunity.
They can tell you when itâs time to adjust your pricing, tighten expenses, prepare for taxes, hire help, pursue fundingâor simply stop doing something that isnât serving the business anymore.
Thatâs why Iâm so passionate about helping business owners understand whatâs happening behind the bank balance.
Because having money in the account today doesnât automatically mean the business is profitable.
Being busy doesnât automatically mean the business is growing.
And increasing revenue doesnât mean much if increasing expenses are quietly eating up everything you earn.
Financial clarity changes the conversation.
Instead of:
âCan I afford this?â
We start asking:
âWhat would need to happen financially for me to afford this?â
Instead of:
âI hope I have enough for taxes.â
We say:
âI already planned for my tax obligation.â
Instead of:
âI think my business is doing okay.â
We say:
âI KNOW exactly where my business stands.â
That difference?
Thatâs what strategy looks like. đ
Iâm building too. Iâm planning too. Iâm making adjustments too. And I understand that entrepreneurship doesnât always happen in a straight line.
But one thing I will always believe:
You donât have to know every answer before you make your next move. You just need enough clarity to make the NEXT right decision.
So yes⌠sometimes building the dream looks glamorous.
And sometimes it looks like me, a calculator, a financial report, a notebook and a whole lot of thinking. đ
Either way...
Weâre building.
Weâre learning.
Weâre adjusting.
And weâre moving forward. đ

Financial clarity looks good on you. đâ¨
One thing Iâve learned after years of working with small business owners: making more money doesnât automatically create a stronger business. Knowing what your money is doing does.
Your numbers should tell you a story.
They should tell you whatâs working.
Where youâre leaking money.
What you can afford.
When itâs time to grow.
And sometimes⌠when itâs time to say âAbsolutely not.â đ
Thatâs why Iâm so passionate about helping business owners move beyond simply having financial statements to actually understanding and using them.
Because bookkeeping is importantâbut clarity is the goal.
When you understand your cash flow, profitability, expenses, tax position, and financial trends, you stop making decisions based on whatâs sitting in the bank account today and start making decisions based on where you want the business to be tomorrow.
Clarity today. Strategy now. Freedom always. â¨
Thatâs the kind of business weâre building over here.
And if your books are currently giving you more questions than answers⌠we should probably talk. đ

Growth requires being willing to keep learning, evolving, and building.
Iâm proud to share that Iâve been selected to join the newest cohort of the Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women: Black in Business program.
Iâm looking forward to gaining new perspectives, building meaningful relationships with other Black women entrepreneurs, and bringing what I learn back into Kabeyia & Kompany LLC and the small businesses I serve.
New season. New connections. New opportunities. Still building. đ

Seeing money in your business bank account can feel reassuringâbut that balance does not tell the complete story.
Some of that money may already belong to:
The IRS or another taxing authority
Employees or contractors
Vendors and lenders
Upcoming operating expenses
Your profit-and-loss statement shows whether your business earned a profit. Your cash-flow activity shows how money moved. Your bank balance only shows what is currently sitting in the account.
Before making a major purchase or taking an ownerâs draw, review all three.
Accounting Action: Compare the net income on your current profit-and-loss statement to your bank balance. If you cannot explain the difference, your books deserve attention.
Save this post for your next financial reviewâor contact Kabeyia & Kompany LLC when you are ready for clarity.
